Hi Jay, You'd do much better to lose the miracle grow and use compost instead to improve your soil. Loosen it up, and mix in the compost. You can buy it by the bagful at any home/garden center, and lots of towns (I'm assuming you live in the US) offer it free to the residents. Whether or not you can grow avocados would depend on what climate zone you live in. Go to your local library and pick up a couple books on vegetable gardening, they will tell you what zone you're in, and anything else you need to know to get started. Good luck and Happy harvests, While digging my garden I have noticed how poor the soil is. It is so poor the grass barely grows, literally. The soil has cement rocks, stones. To fertilize it I have been putting miracle grow and coffee ground on it. I am planning to grow radish, beets, potatoes, peas, tomatoes, string beans, corn, iceberg and grand ripids lettuce, large cherry tomatoes, okra, and parsely. Spaceing and fertilizing tips would be a great help. This is my first garden. I also want to grow avocado... Can this be done?... I love avocada. Thanks for your time. Jay
