I'm really confused now. I've been using my vitamix for over 10 years. If I'm

not making juice what am I making?? Any fruit or vegetable liquifies. I agree

that it is a thicker consistency but am I not getting the same nutritional

benefits from my juice? Your comments would be helpful.

thanks,

Barb

Hi Barb,

You are making purée, smoothie, blended salad, blended drink. I don't know. What ever you want to call it, it's not technically speaking a juice. That doesn't mean that it is not really good for you. A " Juice " doesn't have the fiber of the fruit of vegetable in it.

For example, I will often times start my day with a huge celery juice that I add lemon, etc. I will juice an entire bunch of celery. I will sometimes have a couple of these a day. I certainly would not be tempted to that in a Vitamix because that would be a lot of celery fiber to have to digest.

I can just hear the Natural Hygienist going ... Ya da ya da ya da

If it works for you, keep doing it.

It is my understanding that juicing leaves out most if not all toxic

material that the plant may be carrying, as the toxins stay in the

pulp. Juicing also keeps the body from having to do very much work in

digestion, so all the energy from the plant goes to work in the body,

rather than have the body do so much work to get the energy.

Though I am pretty sure the vitamix does help lower digestion energy

output, it's just not a much as the juicer.
