Guest guest
thanks , that 's it! I would appreciate the recipe. My Dr gave it to and I do think that is what he called it. I used to make a big pot every day and really got to like it a lot...don't know what happened that I stopped making it! dee --- Bevacqui <etain369 wrote: > Hi Dee, > > Sounds like Yogi Tea to me. Guest guest
OK-Here it is: To 2 quarts of water add the following: 15 whole cloves 20 green cardamom pods (slightly crushed) 15 black peppercorns 5 2-inch sticks of cinnamon, or equivalent shorter lengths 8 slices ginger root Boil gently, covered for 30-40 mins adding water as it evaporates, then add 1/2 tsp. of black tea and 3-4 cups of milk. Return to a boil, then turn off and add honey to taste. Strain and serve. The milk helps the assimilation of the spices, and the black tea acts as an alloy for the ingredients, creating the right chemical balance. Diluted with water or extra milk, it's said to help teething discomfort in young children. It will store in the refrigerator for up to a week with milk, longer without. Black pepper-a blood purifier Cardamom pods-a digestive aid Cloves-beneficial to the nervous system Cinnamon-strengthens the bones Ginger root- healing for colds and flu and increases energy From 'Kundalini Yoga' by Shakta Kaur Khalsa Enjoy! thanks , that 's it! Guest guest
Thats the one, thanks...I forgot all about the milk. I usually don't drink cows milk anymore...would rice milk or soy work? (My Dr was an American Sikh, so that book makes sense! :-)) I have no memory of why I was given this particular drink, but I liked it! It tastes nice and spicy. I was a flight attendent and I think he generally felt I did not have a healthy lifestyle, lol! He's the one that had me snuffle some warm lightly salted water, had me take a bathroom break when things got nuts, for a minute to do alternate side of the nose breathing exercises to reduce stress etc. He did keep me feeling very healthy, so I just accepted his sometimes odd instructions! dee Platinum - Watch CBS' NCAA March Madness, live on your desktop! http://platinum. Guest guest
The Sikhs are very big on milk (as is Ayurveyda in general) but if you don't want to drink cow's milk, they recommend almond milk. You can either make it yourself (I'd have to dig up that recipe too, lol!) or you can buy it in the health food stores, some grocery stores carry it too now. All your Dr.'s recommendations were excellent, from a Yogic standpoint. I've been practicing Kundalini Yoga for about a year now, and I can't say enough great things about it! If your interested, check out kundalini yogaindex.html it's a great intro, with free online lessons. Thats the one, thanks...I forgot all about the milk.
