> Heard the latest today?

Each and every day there is

" the latest " . Seems to me that

if we are concerned about the

scientific basis of this or that

we have to make a greater investment

in the development of a scientific

rationale, not to mention a more

scientific set of standards concerning

the development and dissemination

of information.

Rey mentions the intellectual tradition

of Chinese medicine. What shall we

include in our own intellectual

traditions?

Tomorrow, NPR will broadcast the

latest latest. After all, if it's

not the latest, what's it doing on

the news?

So what?

There's been a lot of talk about

vindication on the list in the

last few weeks. Several people

have reported feeling vindicated

by Volker Scheid's book. And now

you seem to feel vindicated or that

something " we " always held true

has been vindicated by the latest

news report.

I think this tendency to take

single, often idiosyncratic sources

as true or as vindications of one's

own prejudices is something that

requires our attention as a group

in the process of developing our

own intellectual traditions.

And to the supersensitive out there,

this is not meant as a criticism of

either NPR or Volker Scheid.

My grandfather always used to say

that the definition of objective truth

is when someone else agrees with your

own prejudices, and I always understood

these as words of caution.

Hi Amy

I don't know which model you're looking at but you might look

at www.discountjuicers.com and they have quite a few to pick from.

The Green Star is more expensive but is worth the extra $$ if you

can afford it. Twin Gear with its powerful triturating action, cuts and

juices all vegetables including carrots, celery, leafy vegetables and wheat

grass.

There are several attachments available also. This type of masticating

action creates less heat that spinning baskets, so there's less degradation

of the final product.

Juicers

Does anyone know of a good juicer that they would recommend? I am thinking

about purchasing the Champion juicer.

Thanks!

Always,

Amy
