Guest guest
Hi Amy Check out www.westonaprice.org . I quit using soy products completely. Doug................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Oh, my Goodness, Doug, thank you so so much for that post. This is so scary to me. I just read the Soy Alert and the one Woman's true story. I thank God that I asked about Soy milk now, because I am also the one who recently posted about having hair loss and really bad headaches and going to the doctor. I would've never thought of Soy as the culprit to my health. They keep testing my hormone levels and my thyroid, which is exactly the 2 things they are claiming that soy affects. The doctors have found nothing as of yet and have given me no real answers. They, of course, want to blame it on stress. But I feel like I am very aware of my body and I KNOW when something is wrong. I don't have anymore stress in my life than usual. The one thing I have really changed is adding Soy products to my diet about 2 years ago. And even more so in the past 6 months. I have a smoothie made of SOY protein, fruit and Soy milk every single day. I am trembling writing this, because I am so upset but so happy at the same time, if that makes any sense at all. I am so angry that SOY is suppossed to be healthy and good for me and why didn't I know otherwise. I have been giving it to my son thinking I was doing something good for him . I am also very happy and relieved to have some sort of an answer to what may be causing all my recent problems. Again, I truely thank you for taking the time to send me this website. I can now do some more research. I am not putting anymore soy products into my body or my sons until I get some clear answers to this. This is mind boggling. I thought Soy was the one good thing I did. I thought I was being health conscious and doing the right thing. I even pay extra for it! I am a little confused now as to what is safe to drink. I have heard horrible things about dairy and cow's milk. I know that soda is bad! They say that even fruit juices are no good. And the water from my tap is also harmful. That leaves alcohol and we all know that one! So what am I suppossed to drink to be healthy and what do I give my 4 year old that won't harm him. Any ideas? Always, Amy
Guest guest
It's interesting to read your concerns regarding soy, considering that you eat all sorts of hormones & antibiotics in meat & dairy. I suppose you could clain to be a cautious consumer & eat only organic meat but I don't see that that is any more possible than entirely avoiding GMOs in soy. I guess to each his own, I prefer to eat a diet that doesn't include the mistreatment & slaughter of animals for my own wellfare...but that's just me. And I've lived a perfectly healthy lifestyle while choosing this diet for 14 years, not to mention supported 2 pregnancies, including breastfeeding for 2 years. Have a nice day! M. PS I don't eat food from cans.... , " kair4me " <oxyssage@p...> wrote: > Hi Miranda > > I researched soy from considerable sources, including John Robbins > information. Guest guest
Amy, DO you eat chicken? I work with a board certified lactation consultant & we have done very extensive research on the dangers of the artificial hormones found in chicken. Many people think they are doing good by eating more " white meat " than " red meat " without being aware of the potential problems they may be creating. One client in particular that we met with had several mysterious lumps in her breasts completely disappear after she stopped eating chicken, which she was eating almost daily... More food for thought. Miranda , Ltningblt23@a... wrote: > > > Hi Amy > > Check out www.westonaprice.org . Guest guest
Hi, Amy My family drinks distilled water, organic fruit juices (not too much per day), and reduced fat organic milk (again, not too much per day). I drink herbal teas, as well, but I'm the only one in my family that's a tea drinker. Oh, and I drink decaf organic coffee. They kind of rebelled when I took the soda away, but now get along just fine without it. Good luck to you in your quest for health, Suzanne www.practical-health.com > > Oh, my Goodness, Doug, thank you so so much for that post. This is so scary > to me. Guest guest
Hey Miranda, Yes, actually, Chicken and fish are really the only meats that I ever eat. I don't eat either very often. I guess I am sort of a vegetarian alot of the time, because I really have a hard time enjoying meat and animal products just because the thought of what they once were, kinda grosses me out. I need more info I guess. Like I want to actually meet the chicken that laid the egg I am about to eat and make sure that it's a healthy attractive chicken. I just have a hard time with animal products, that's why I turned to soy. I eat alot of Tempeh, tofu, pastas and rices with veggies, fruits and peanut butter and granola bars are my choice junk foods. And I enjoy soy products. I even prefer the taste. I love soy milk, it's my favorite thing to drink. That's why I am so upset to find out that it may be something I need to cut out of my diet. I would love to believe differently, otherwise I am not going to know what to eat or drink. Always, Amy
Guest guest
, When will people realize you don't need animal poducts to be healthy? I am a strict vegan and in great health...I don't believe you need meat or any other animal source to be healthy. Guest guest
Miranda, Thanks so much for this site. I read it over and that information was very useful to me. I guess I'll just go with my intuition and my taste buds and stick to soy until I learn otherwise for sure. I love it and my son likes it and plus we are stocked up on soy in our fridge, so I really can't imagine wasting all of that. Waste not want not, right?! I read the carton of soy milk and it is made from whole soy beans which John Robbins site says is the best kind. I am going to stop or at least ease up on my use of the soy protein powder after reading both sites and see if that changes anything. Thanks again, Amy
Guest guest
I agree with you 100%! Almost seems like a sort of brainwashing doesn't it? , " monkeysbadgirl " <monkeysbadgirl@w...> wrote: > , > When will people realize you don't need animal poducts to be healthy? (www.foodrevolution.org You'll see a link for an article titled " What ABout Soy? " on the home page.) I think you'll be relieved to read the other side of the argument. Mr. Robbins does an incredible job of explaining all of the flaws of Sally Fallon's work (at Westonaprice.com). And always remember to honor your instincts & listen to your body.
