This is Tom Robbins' (Diet for a New America) site & he has a WONDERFUL in depth look at the claims that soy in unhealthy. It is a bit long but definately worth the read. Guest guest
Hi Miranda I researched soy from considerable sources, including John Robbins information. I've got his video and book(s). While there are those who claim you can get " everything " you need without eating meats, I have serious reservations with that approach. I believe that eating a well rounded variety of foods, including meats, is necessary for good health. However, I admit you do need to be selective in what you buy. Soy products typically consumed for many years by peoplein other societies were mainly fermented items. Today the majority of the products consumed in our society are not fermented, and due to GMO concerns, it's increasingly difficult to be sure you're not eating what I consider to be a non food and potentially dangerous variety of soy. I think avoiding it is better than chancing it. It's not necessary. That said, unfortunately unless you're eating strickly home prepared meals from real foods it's almost an impossibility to avoid soy consumption. It's in virtually everything that comes in a can.
