Guest guest
Please be aware: Anti-inflammatory drugs kill 10,000 Americans every year (from gastrointestinal complications such as bleeding ulcers). All nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) including aspirin and ibuprofen have potential of kidney and liver damage. They cause more than 100,000 hospitalizations a year in the US. Celebrex was the beneficiary of a huge marketing campaign claiming that it had less side effects than Vioxx, another NSAID. According to the well-respected British Medical Journal this claim is untrue. Neither Celebrex nor Vioxx has been shown to reduce pain better than ibuprofen. (They cost six times as much.) Vioxx has been shown to cause heart attacks. An animal study of both Vioxx and Celebrex indicates they may hinder healing of bone fractures. Ibuprofen, while cheaper, is no prize either. The manufacturer's own literature indicates repeated use may cause kidney dysfunction. All the more reason to seek 'alternatives', yes? Thanks, Moe for that information on Magnesium. Others have recommended it to me; I am finally convinced! I have found Ester Vitamin C very helpful for the pain I get in my hand.
