Guest guest
Homeopathic First Aid after trauma, shock, war and terror This guide attempts to present the most common homeopathic remedies to help regain energy, calm and comfort at a time of fear, trauma and grief. This is a guide to immediate first aid. For the long term effects of trauma it is recommended that individuals seek treatment from a homeopath. As a first aid measure, choose the remedy that sounds most like your symptoms or those of the person you are helping. If in doubt about which to choose, try Aconite, which is the most common remedy for shock. You don't need to have every symptom listed under a remedy, but choose the one that best describes your state. Aconite: For the effects of sudden shock, terror or fright. Crazy with fear. Feels what has just been done is a dream. Restless, fearing death, and feel certain they are about to die. Fear of the future, crowds, crossing the street; anticipates another terrible shock or injury. " Something really terrible is about to happen; I keep thinking I'm going to die " [which kit? this remedy is included in all four kits, go to kits] Argentum Nitricum: Trembling and fear. Feels hurried; time seems to be going too slowly. Irrational impulses. Confusion and dizziness. Fear of heights, falling from a height; fear of aeroplanes and flying. Impulse to jump out of a window; visions of walls of high buildings falling down on them. Diarrhoea with the fright. " I'm having panic attacks ever since the shock, and I'm afraid of losing control " [which kit? this remedy is included in the blue 36 remedy kit and gren 36 remedy travel kit, go to kits] Arnica: After mental strain or shock: including trauma of sudden loss, personal or financial or physical trauma. Especially indicated if there is bruising or broken limbs. Patient wants to be left alone and does not even want to be touched or approached. Muscles and entire body aches from over work. Say they are 'ok' despite the seriousness of their condition. Fear at night and on waking and of crowds and public spaces. Dizzy. Breath smells of bad eggs. May be useful for rescue workers who carry on despite exhaustion. " Dont touch me; I am ok " [which kit? this remedy is included in all four kits, go to kits] Gelsemium: For the effects of grief and bad news. Grieving but cannot cry. Feeling dizzy, weak and uncoordinated; grasping on to another as if in terror of falling. Wants to be held because s/he shakes so much. Feels better from being held on to. Headache, heaviness, palpitations, paralyzed with fear. Distant and numbed emotionally. Unable to sleep from exhaustion. Fear of death with anxiety about the future, cannot cry, red flushed face. Delirious on falling asleep. " I need your support, I am afraid " [which kit? this remedy is included in all four kits, go to kits] Opium: for the long term effects of trauma where the patient is haunted by daydreams and nightmares of what s/he has witnessed or experienced. Follows Aconite well, after the initial shock is over; a deeper layer of fear exists. See the movie ‘Fearless’ starring Jeff Bridges, a perfect picture of the Opium remedy state: Patient may be in denial of the danger they have experienced and feel great courage and fearlessness. " After the terrors I have seen, nothing can touch me now " [which kit? not included in any of the first aid kits available on this site, but available from homeopathic pharmacies] Bach flower remedies for fear, trauma and terror: Rescue remedy: combination essence for shock Rock Rose: terror, panic Cherry Plum: fear of mind giving way Mimulus: fear of known things External links The Homeopathic Treatment of Trauma http://www.lyghtforce.com/HomeopathyOnline/Issue5/articles/schmookler.html The Remedies of War http://www.lyghtforce.com/HomeopathyOnline/Issue5/articles/derin.html *** http://www.likecureslike.org/trauma%20 & %20shock.htm
