Citrine

Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

Chakra: Solar Plexas

Numerology: 6 - Home and Family. Humanitarian. Teacher.

Element: Water

Chemical Composition: SiO2 silicon dioxide

Natural Citrine is relatively rare. Many of the stones sold today are

artificially created by heating amethyst to approximately 900 degrees in

Fahrenheit, whereupon it turns a beautiful golden color.

These Citrines show pale red, pale orange or warm bronze shades, whereas

the natural citrine is greenish-yellow in color.

The pleasing color and hardness of Citrine make it suitable for cutting,

faceting and making striking pieces of jewelry. Because of it's

abundancy, Citrine is relatively inexpensive, and can be offered in both

small and large pieces. Sometimes this yellow stone has been

misrepresented as the more expensive Yellow Topaz, under such names as

Madeira Topaz or Bahia Topaz. The name Citrine is derived from the

French word 'citron,' meaning lemon, referring to Citrine's lemon

color.

Citrine was not as popular as other quartz gemstones among the ancient

cultures. But it was used during the Hellenistic Age (323 - 380 b.c.e.)

in Greece for jewelry pieces. And remained popular into the first and

second centuries in both Greece and Rome.

Medically, Citrine was carried as protection against plagues, epidemics

and venomous reptile and snake bites. Too, it was used as a talisman for

alcoholism, over indulgences, scandal, treachery and evil thoughts.

Citrine has been assigned many properties for today's usage. Because of

its yellow color, the physical healing property of Citrine will aid in

all urinary troubles. It can reduce ulcer flair ups. It is stated to be

a good stone for tissue regeneration and detoxifying all the bodies. It

will aid in the promotion of good health to the circulation, kidneys,

heart, gallbladder, liver and intestines.

Due to the Citrine being a Quartz stone, it has the property of bringing

awareness, intuitiveness and enlightenment to the owner. Due again to

it's different color, of that of the evening sunset, healing and

balanced emotions are in store for the owner when Citrine is used in

meditations.

I use Citrine in my Readings to tell my clients that they need to find

information about a situation going on in their life. They need detail

and understanding to help them get through the ordeal or handle the

circumstances. Perhaps they will find the information needed in a book,

through a professional, looking within. Either way, they need the

information to guide them through their situation.

If you are in need of some guidance, meditate or concentrate on a piece

of Citrine. Listen to it's message. You will be guided to the

information you are in need of.
