Guest guest
I'm afraid that I must agree that the book excerpt attempting to deify the abstract concept of truth is not appropriate to this alternative/holistic medicine group. This book excerpt is a philosophical statement. It may be zealous and from the heart, but it is not religious because it does not describe an object of faith. You can't pray to truth. Truth is being represented here as both a connection to the divine source of life as well as the divine universal intelligence, which is protective, enlightening, and greater than any physical problem. One could just as easily replace the word "music" for each instance of the word "truth". If this was introduced by you as a mantra for healing one or more physical, emotional, or psychological disorders, I would feel differently, but as it stands it is off-topic. , "Kilia Meri <spiritbodynsoul"> <spiritbodynsoul> wrote:Book excerpt~IYANLA VANZANT~Today, I ask that the TRUTH be revealed to me. Guest guest
To answer the question, Isn't it just simpler to delete posts that you don't wish to read? No, it isn't. How am I supposed to know what it's about if I delete it before I read it? I assumed that it was about alternative medicine or holistic healing. That's why I read it. Why do you redefine the purpose of my post in this manner? The question is not whether I want to read it. If the SUBJECT line had indicated that it was a mantra, I may not have read it...but, I probably would have read it anyway. If the member who posted it had mentioned the usefulness of reciting it or had exhorted the reader to recite it because it worked for her, I wouldn't have posted a response of any kind. That, however, is not the case. I've been on here a long time... there's a wide variety of topics discussed. This post was a cut and paste book excerpt. It has spawned discussion, but it was not a discussion of any kind. The post may have been relevant to the personal philosophy of the posting member, however the reader was not privy to any such relevance, because the reader was not presented with any information, of any kind, relating to any experiences with disease or healing of the list member who posted it. The post dealt with no physical, emotional, or psychological disorder. The post explained no method of dealing with any disorder. The post mentioned no holistic or alternative approach to healing. It was simply finding a book, copying an excerpt from the book, and posting the excerpt to this group. The posting did not attempt to convey any message of healing, nor did it invite discussion of healing. I didn't detect any theological statement in it, so my objections had no basis in religion. You mention the fact that you have "...been on here a long time... ". What exactly does that mean, with respect to the "...wide variety of topics discussed."? I would assume that all of the topics under discussion related in some way to the subject of health and healing from an alternative angle or perspective. From your post, I gather that you disagree with my assertion that the TRUTH posting was not off-topic. Does this mean that it would be okay, in your opinion, for me to get a copy of Moby Dick or Don Quixote, for instance, and cut and paste a page or two, whether or not it was about health or the healing of any physical, emotional, or psychological maladies? How about the 5th chapter of the book of James from the Holy Bible? It actually does deal with sickness and healing, and actually describes a method of dealing with sickness. Shall I post that? Would it be okay? After all, There's room for all. I submit that it would not be okay. The reason why it would not be okay? It is not a discussion if I cut and paste a book excerpt. I can cite it. I can discuss it. It is on topic and germane to this group's purpose.
