Menthol vs. Emu oil

I would be interested in hearing anything about arthritis pain relief

( particularly the knee joint ) using menthol cremes or emu oil. I do

not know what these products are, but I have seen them advertised and

if they are to be believed, they offer pain relief in 3 to 5 minutes.

Also, what is the value, if any, of using glucosomine-chondroitin

cremes ( as opposed of taking the active ingredients internally ? ).

Thank you.

I can only comment on taking glucosamine

internally and finding it very beneficial.

As an external aid, I still find it hard to beat

RubA535 ExtraStrength. Nothing alternative that

I've tried has given same quick results. It would

have menthol in it, I'd certainly think.

However, many old liniments have cayenne as an

ingredient and I've found this one good.

Someone gave me emu oil once, but it didn't do

anything for me to reduce inflammation or pain.

For long term maintenance Edgar Cayce recommended

weekly oil rubs with cold pressed peanut oil,

claiming this would prevent arthritis.

That's about all I know for sure.

Dollar for dollar, I've never found anything better for pain than an

old-fashioned linament called HEET. It's hard to find, I had to order it off

the Net, but both my mother and I swear by it and I think it contains both

menthol and cayenne pepper (capsacin?). Stinks but works great.

As for emu oil, never did a thing for me applied topically but I have taken

it internally, it comes in capsule form, and it seemed to help some with

keeping my ligaments from getting quite so tight.
