Guest guest
Pearl, The only thing I know is to lie down and put the peroxide in the ear for a minute or more then turn to drain the ear, take a "squeeze ball" and put water in to rinse out the peroxide and debri. This is what I have to do for my DH = He works construction, in dirt, concrete, etc....really gets bad at times to where he can't hear.. You should see the stuff that comes out - we usually do it a couple times....rinse at the sink.... he leans over with ear facing the sink and we "shoot" the water up into the ear.... does this make sense... don't know how else to explain it... Hopefully someone will have other ideas too. Suzi PEARLY2 wrote: Can someone please help me with my ear problem question? Guest guest
Pearl Got this info on unblocking earwax - maybe it will help... Treatment Most cases of ear wax blockage respond to home treatment. Mineral oil, baby oil, glycerin, or commercial drops can be used to soften wax in the ear. Detergent drops such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide may aid in the removal of wax.Another method to remove wax is irrigation of the ear. Body-temperature water should be used (cooler or warmer water may cause a response consisting of brief but severe dizziness or vertigo). With the head upright, straighten the ear canal by holding the external ear and gently pulling upward. Use a syringe to gently direct a small stream of water against the ear canal wall next to the wax plug. Tip the head to allow the water to drain. Irrigation may need to be repeated several times.Never irrigate the ear if the eardrum is not known to be intact, because irrigation with a ruptured eardrum may cause ear infection or acoustic trauma. Do not irrigate the ear with a jet irrigator designed for cleaning teeth (such as a WaterPik) because the force of the irrigation may damage the eardrum. After the wax is removed, the ear should be dried thoroughly. A few drops of alcohol in the ear or a hair dryer set on low may be used to aid in drying. If attempts to remove the wax plug are unsuccessful, consult the health care provider, who may remove the wax by repeating the irrigation attempts, suctioning the ear canal, or removing wax with a small device (curette). Occasionally, the wax must be removed with microscopic visualization. Guest guest
Working with hydrogen peroxide is tricky. It certainly is a good disinfectant, but it is so broad that it literally can kill anything, including us. Yes, it can change ear canals and also gums, so it is not recommended for ear or mouth problems just for that reason. I know lots of people use it as a mouthwash, but as it turns out, when the gums are already aggravated, it can do some harm. The best use of it, is the traditional one of putting it on open external wounds. In the late 80's some acquiantances in Denver got into using highly diluted food-grade hydrogen peroxide for just about everything. We obtained this in a 35% dilution -- normally in the drugstore it's 3%. This stuff was strong enough to burn skin if it was spilled! Only one or two drops were put into water, and then we would drink the water. Most of us experienced diarrhea with this -- we were told that this was just the body getting rid of toxins. Maybe so, but i started to wonder if the cure was worse than the disease. In general hydrogen peroxide should be used only under supervision by a physician. Guest guest
I can't smell! Over the last year or so I have lost my sense of smell. No blows to the head, only thing different is my BP meds, asked Doc about it and was told I may never get it back. I miss it,food has no taste, can't smell danger (smoke, ect.) and other areas of my life. Its terrible. Blood pressure was so high they were afraid I would have a stroke right then,It is now normal but I am wondering if it was worth it if I must give up the ability to smell.
