Guest guest Posted December 31, 2002 Report Share Posted December 31, 2002 The most dramatic change that I've seen past life therapy cause in someone's life is what happened to my friend R-----. In fact, part of the reason that I did my first past life regression was not to solve my own problems but just to see what it's like so I could try taking Rachel into going. Poor R----- was married to a cocaine addict and alcoholic. He'd had 3 previous DUI's and, when he wrecked the car because he was drunk, he talked Rachel into saying that she'd been driving and swerved to miss a dog on the road so that he wouldn't go to prison for his 4th DUI. He was physically and emotionally abusive. He cheated on her. Yet she kept taking him back. Why? Why do any battered women put up with that? It's a complex issue. I used to work for a battered women's shelter so I know it's hard to understand and it's even harder to help people caught in that emotional quicksand. To make a long story short, R----- went to the past life therapy and with about 3 sessions was finally able to see that she and her husband have been together in many, many lives and he's always been the selfish bas---d then that he is now. She had kept working to make the relationship change, to get him to change, thinking that things would be different someday but you cannot change anyone but yourself. It took the past life therapy to make her see that. The real turning point was that she regressed to a past life in which he'd killed her. That finally made her see something that had been worrying me. I feared for her life but she saw, through that past life, how easy it is for things to go too far, farther even than participants mean for them to go, and the consequences are irreversible. R----- was finally able to break free of his control over her and get a divorce then make a new life for herself. Past life therapy is very useful and I recommend it to anyone. Just remember, it's NOT the same as a past life reading. In a past life " reading, " the person just tells you that you lived here or there and did this or that. In a past life regression, the person who is being regressed actually sees the events of the past life. It sometimes takes more than one session to be able to get to the point where you see things. My friend Rommie only saw a brief scene in her first trip back, she saw a Native American woman stirring a big pot. Later it came out that she was seeing her daughter in this life, Donna, as she was then and they were together in some tribe. I am new to the list, and wondering how to go about finding such a therapist in my area is exactly what I was wondering, reading some of these things! I too, have had a series of abusive relationships, and difficulty being assertive with anyone..don't know if it has to do with a past life or not, but I always have wondered about mine anyway. So thank you from a newbie, who is very much enjoying what I have been reading here!
