Guest guest
I absolutely love tea tree oil and have used it, on and off, for years. However, I seem to recall a warning several years ago about some companies selling diluted tea tree oil or oil mixed with other substances. I seem to recall that you should look for a certain word or symbol on the bottle because that means that the Australian government (or somebody) certifies that the manufacturer of that particular tea tree oil is providing tea tree oil up to certain standards. Can anyone shed some light on this? - Anna ******************************************************** Learn more about the way enzymes can change your life! Remember, not all enzymes are created equal! Guest guest
TEA TREE should be steam distilled, from AUSTRILA. It should be sold in a dark glass bottle with a stopper top. It should have the family as well as common name. The family name is malaleuca alternifolia CT terpineol. Tea Tree has a cute little legend. Captain Cook was busy discovering AUSTRALIA, all his tea was used up and he sent his men out to find some tea bushes. They mistook Melaleuca bushes for tea bushes. This they brewed up and served to CAPTAIN COOK. Needless to say, TEA TREE IS Not as palpatable as TEA, but has been called TEA TREE ever since. Tea Tree was used by the ABORINGINES against infection for hundreds of years. In 1920, a Sidney chemist carried out research that showed essential oil TEA TREE was 12 times stronger then carbolic acid, but did not harm the skin. It also appeared to dissolve pus. I don't know if I am allowed to give brand names of reputable companies to use for pure, clinical quality essential oils. You probably won't find pure essential oils in your neigborhood store. I am not saying you can't use those. Just realize that they are not pure. If you want some names of reputable companies- you can email me at Touchofscents214 - " Anna " <aljuarez Sunday, December 29, 2002 8:01 PM Tea Tree Oil Question > I absolutely love tea tree oil and have used it, on and off, for years. > However, I seem to recall a warning several years ago about some companies > selling diluted tea tree oil or oil mixed with other substances. > > I seem to recall that you should look for a certain word or symbol on the > bottle because that means that the Australian government (or somebody) > certifies that the manufacturer of that particular tea tree oil is providing > tea tree oil up to certain standards. > > Can anyone shed some light on this? > > - Anna > > > > > ******************************************************** > > Learn more about the way enzymes can change your life! Guest guest
Thanx for the info , I looked up the company that puts out the tea tree oil I use , this is the info I found . SUPPLEMENT FACTS Tea Tree Oil INGREDIENT Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) 100% Pure Australian Oil - Pharmaceutical Grade Herbal Supplement Tea Tree is a pure oil, culled from the leaves of a tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), native to Australia. Traditionally, it has been used as a topical agent for the skin. The Australian standards require that the oil of Melaleuca alternifolia must be composed of less than 15% cineole and over 30% terpinen-4-ol. Our superior grade of Tea Tree Oil is meticulously analyzed to ensure that it exceeds these levels of oil quality standards decreed by the Australian government. Our Tea Tree Oil is composed of less than 5% cineole and over 35% terpinen-4-ol which qualifies for " Pharmaceutical Grade " , as established by the Australian Tea Tree Oil Industry Association. , " Cheryl Pray- Sharar " <touchofscents@m...> wrote: > TEA TREE should be steam distilled, from AUSTRILA.
