Guest guest
Yikes! I thought tea tree oil was toxic, never to be used internally? Yes, I know you say not to swallow but a certain amount will be absorbed by the gums... Don't get me wrong, I <love> tea tree oil EXTERNALLY but I shudder at the thought of using it in my mouth! Ugh!! The Ubiquitous company has a " tooth cleaner " made from essential oils and specially formulated to help the mouth become more healthy. In fact, they have a whole line of essential oil products that people can use without putting toxins in their body. Guest guest
My instructor said it was safe if you only used 1 drop, Since she was so cautious the entire program, I trust her on this. She said to consider a gargle topical. - " Anna " <aljuarez Sunday, December 29, 2002 6:57 PM Tea tree oil in the mouth? > Yikes! I thought tea tree oil was toxic, never to be used internally? Guest guest
If you don't feel comfortable- don't do it. I wouldn't use it on a client that way- but have used on myself for a year now. My gums don't bleed any more. - " Anna " <aljuarez Sunday, December 29, 2002 6:57 PM Tea tree oil in the mouth? > Yikes! I thought tea tree oil was toxic, never to be used internally? Guest guest
Your skin will absorb a toxin as quickly as your digestive system. Tea Tree or any EO could be toxic if taken in large quantities. Although not common in the US, people in many countries take EOs in very small amounts internally. I am a licensed esthetiican and I can promise you that I do not put anything on skin that cannot be taken interally! Tea Tree is one of the EOs that I use neat on problem skin. If you swallow a little while brushing your teeth, it will not hurt you. If you do and are concerned about it, swallow a shot glass of olive oil as a chaser. Guest guest
Hello all, I know I'm way late in responding to this but here goes... If you try a tea tree gargle or mouth wash be sure to use ONLY the 1 drop. I tried it a while back and used to much tea tree. Good thing I was in the bathroom already 'cos it only took a second for it to make me vomit! I still do it from time to time (I have bad teeth decay and tea tree should help with that) but am very very sure to only use just one drop and to definitely not swallow it. Even if swallowed I don't think it could do more harm than make you sick to your stomach and come back up. Fluoride is quite poisonous to the body and we swallow that every time we drink water from the tap... know what I mean? There are tons of very toxic things we put in our bodies (on purpose and NOT on purpose) all the time - I wouldn't consider tea tree to be one of those things. I have never had a problem using it straight on my skin and use it all the time for many different things. It's great for everything under the sun if you ask me. Did someone mention using bleach on athlete's foot? Ugh! Do some research about the components of bleach and how harmful it is. Personally I never use it for anything except putting in the toilet tank to clean the bowl. I would never put it on my skin on purpose and no longer clean the kitchen or clothes with it. A horrible nasty substance we really don't need in our homes at all, in my opinion. Peace!
