Guest guest
Oh, Pat, you have my complete sympathy! I used to work with a battered women's shelter and I know what you mean about stress-related ailments!! Ouch!! My three (3) favorite " healthy " ways of dealing with stress (the midnight runs for Dove bars don't count since they weren't healthy, LOL!) are: (1) Hot baths before going to bed! Either a long hot bath with essential oils mixed with epsom salts mixed in the water or a hot soak for just the feet but it really helped. (2) Making a recording of a soothing song, over and over and over again, then playing it when I wanted to sleep. The soundof the repetition allowed my brain to " shut off " and let go of the day's worries, allowing me to sleep. Otherwise I tossed and turned thinking about the day's events and what I needed to do the next day. (3) Carrying bottles of essential oils in my purse to work then taking " stress breaks " during the day when I'd take my phone off the hook a few minutes, close the door to my office, visualize something nice (like a place I'd previously visited on vacation or imagining Russell Crowe naked, LOL!) and inhaling deeply of the essential oils. Just do your best NOT to carry your work home. I would often stay at the office until late into the night but I refused to carry files home because that violated " the sanctity " of my home and brought negative energy home with me. I don't know if any of this will work for you (not everyone is " into " Russell Crowe, LOL!) but I hope it helps a little. The absolute best thing for me was deep tissue massage but, unfortunately, that gets expensive. I have made it a habit to massage myself while watching TV or otherwise alone and free to work with my hands but there's no substitute for the relief you get from stress at the hands of a professional massage therapist!! - Anna At 05:11 PM 12/29/02 -0800, Pat wrote: >I'm originally from Oklahoma but I'm stuck in southern >Indiana right now. Guest guest
Hi Anna, Thanks for the suggestions. They are all very good, but Russell Crowe just doesn't do a thing for me. LOL And as far as not taking my work home with me, that's kinda tricky. My work is as home. LOL But, the rest of your suggestions are very doable. Thanks, pat --- Anna <aljuarez wrote: > Oh, Pat, you have my complete sympathy! I used to > work with a battered > women's shelter and I know what you mean about > stress-related ailments!!
