A good reference for information on Reiki is the International Center

for Reiki Training (www.reiki.org).

I respectfully disagree with long distance attunements. There is so

much to be learned and gained from being attuned in person by a Reiki

Master. The depth of the experience cannot be replicated long distance.

Karen

Unfortunately, there are no standards for Reiki Masters. If you've received

a 3rd level attunement from someone and are giving attunements, then you're

entitled to call yourself a Reiki Master but I've seen good teachers as RM's

and lousy ones.

If you're caught between paying an arm and a leg for a lousy teacher versus

getting a long distance attunement versus not doing Reiki at all, I'd say go

for the long distance attunement but keep trying to learn more on your own.

For the record, I have a friend that can see auras and she mentioned that

once you get a Reiki attunement then it puts a certain symbol in your aura.

However, she's met people who aren't conscious of ever having been attuned.

Her theory is that if you get attuned to Reiki in a previous lifetime then

you carry the symbol in your aura forever... even in other lifetimes where

you're not aware that you've been attuned. Thus, people who are drawn to try

Reiki and go for the long distance attunements may simply be carrying out

their work from a previous lifetime when they were attuned in person. I know

that some of the symbols I use in energy work were NOT taught to me but,

instead, have come to me through meditation.

But they work.

Anna,

Your points are well taken. I agree that Reiki attunements can be

expensive. I guess that I am a little naive when it comes to " lousy "

Reiki masters - I would like to think that they don't exist, but guess

that like anyone else, there are good and bad examples.

Attending Reiki clinics (some people call them Reiki shares) is a good

way to learn about Reiki and to experience some " hands on " Reiki.

What kind of energy work do you do?

Dear Karen,

I would have agreed with you up until February 17, 2002, however,

that has all changed. Until you have experienced these energies in

the high vibrational states--it's something that cannot be denied.

After all, we cannot block the Creator who made us.

In radiance,
