When I do house blessings, my method of cleansing is to have the person who's home it is walk with me around the house three times in a counter clockwise motion (clockwise is to BRING something to you...counter clockwise is to BANISH), waving a smudge stick in a sweeping motion. The suggestion of salt and water combined is also another great idea, counter clockwise in a sprinkling motion. This way, all four elements are used to cleanse and purify.Bright Blessings!~Jenn~ , Laura Martin-Bühler <gentle_survivalist> <gentle_survivalist> wrote:> Yes, sage is for a blessing, but the Native Peoples I was raised with,> the southwestern Peoples, used dried juniper cedar for a blessing and> a cleanser. A Buddhist house cleansing (often done before Losar) is to circumambulate the house with burning juniper branches (I use incense made from the branches so not to scare the neighbors ) and to set of firecrackers or clap loudly. I do it every year to prepare for the lunar new year. Embley Veronica
