Guest guest
Hello all, Just had to share this with you. Last night I was chatting with my sil when the news was getting ready to come on. She was telling me about a segment they were going to do on male pms or IMS (irritable male syndrome) that she wanted to watch. I laughed, telling her " Yea, women aren't taking their hormone replacements anymore so they came out with one for men " . She protested that no, this was a NEWS story about the newly diagnosed condition and had nothing to do with that. I told her there is little difference between a press release and a news story most of the time and that it had more to do with them selling lots of this new hormone treatment than it did with a real condition. Of course she didn't believe me. Well guess what? There was a MD who wants to write lots of prescriptions telling all about this " condition " . I had to laugh. They also interviewed Larrian Gillespie MD, author of The Gladiator Diet, who said that the proper diet would take care of most symptoms, just as a proper diet helps with PMS but the MD flat out stated that diet would have no effect whatsoever... he's gotta sell those pills to every silly man he can find so of course he is going to deny diet has an effect. It would be even funnier if it wasn't so annoying, know what I mean? My sil of course thinks my brother has it. He doesn't - he just eats wrong, doesn't take care of himself and is overworked and stressed out. All those things are easily fixable with proper diet but you know Americans - gotta have a quick fix for everything. Just take this pill and everything will be all right... Not only they going after the male market with the so-called " andropause " , now they are creating a market for men of all ages and calling it " male PMS " . Gee whiz - it's called aging and a hormone pill is not gonna prevent that! Diet, exercise and taking care of yourself will help but they don't want to admit that when there are expensive drugs to sell folks. I looked all over the news station website but couldn't find the story they ran. I'm not saying it doesn't exist but do we really need hormone replacement therapy for it? It's sad that many people will fall for this and take an unnecessary drug for something they could fix with lifestyle changes. Oh well. Makes me kinda glad I'm single though... one person with PMS is enough for this household! LOL!! I'm off to bed now - good night all. Peace!
