I think it comes from the mountain areas and have heard it's found all along the Rocky Mountains but don't know that for sure. My friend near Taos that introduced me to osha buys " raw " osha every August then makes a tincture out of it, placing the osha in alcohol. When feeling something come on, she not only takes the tincture but she also will chew the root (it's been softened up a bit by the alcohol) with honey. She had me do that when I had the nagging cough and it worked! I ate the osha and the next day my cough was gone!! Osha is sold by some herb companies in a pill form, easier to take that way. You know, the same companies that sell echinecea and beet root will also have osha pills. Native Americans used to use it medicinally. I think one of my herb books says more, I'll look for it! - Anna ****************** Pay for purchases you made on-line without worrying about someone misusing your credit card, pay with PayPal! Guest guest
Osha root, (tincture form) has helped me and my friends with sore throat, respitory problems, etc. for many years. It is a strong antiviral, has been used for used for herpes, sore throat, colds, flu; bronchial expectorant; immune stimulating building, along with echinaecia. I've also read that osha helps with allergic reactions, asthma (at onset of attack), spider bites, bee stings, anaphylactic shock, coughs. In addition to osha, for respitory problems and sinuses, I've tried thyme, fenugreek, hot pepper, horseradish, and ginger. (if you ever put ginger or black pepper in the bath, only use one drop, I don't recommend it, very intense...I once put a little too much black pepper in my bath and thought I was going to have a heart attack) I'll try and compile a list of my winter survival tips this weekend, I think its a good idea. namaste brooke Web Hosting - Let the expert host your site http://webhosting.
