Guest guest
Hi everyone...(I hope no one with interest has been deterred from this group because of the unduly spammers lately, that would be a shame, ) My cat (Triscuit) is 17, an indoor cat that I've had since I was 14 myself. She has always been an indoor cat and I feed her natural food and herbs. Her eyesight is failing, I'm sure and I'm a little freaked out about it. I guess its the only deteriorating childhood pet I've ever had. One of her eyes is kinda red, (in the colored part) and I've noticed that bluish foggy tint in her eyes too. (is that glaucoma?) Well, (sigh) I guess, like I said, I'm kinda freaked and am looking for a good vet, (I hope I can find a natural vet for her) I bought some eyebright for her, and have put some in her drinking water. Does anyone have any suggestions or assurances that might make me feel better? She is my baby. Thanks, Namaste ~b Health - Feel better, live better
Guest guest
Hello b, In one of my nutrition texts (for humans) the author suggests eating liver (organic) for eye problems to get more vitamins and minerals into the system. That's one suggestion could be applied to cats as well. As for other herbs, I've read that bilberry protects the eyes from damage and chickweed is also good, but I don't know how these might affect a cat. Vitamin C can also lower intraocular pressure if glaucoma is present. I've seen VitC marketed for cats, up to 500mg per day suggested medicinal dosage (or to bowel tolerance - may cause diarrhea). There's another called CATWELL that addresses feline health concerns, so perhaps there or another cat specific group would be a good place to check. I hope you've found a decent vet (I know that's quite a hard thing to do) and that Triscuit is feeling better. I understand how you feel about your cat. Blessed be, ~River >My cat (Triscuit) is 17, an indoor cat that I've had since I was 14 myself. She has always been an indoor cat and I feed her natural food and herbs.
