if it is a bacterial infection, you need antibiotic drops

I think antibiotic drops are a bad idea unless absolutely necessary myself. Have read they make you more susceptible to future ear infections, as well as weakening the immunity. There is more chance of an allergic reaction or irritation with them, and the bacteria may be immune to it. OR the bacteria will get immune to it later and recur in the ear and need different treatment.

You can try a mixture of garlic oil*, mullein oil*, st johns wort flowers oil that have been infused in olive. Or - just the garlic and mullien. Or - just the garlic infused in olive. warm slightly before using and voila. Kills the bacteria and helps the pain. Since your ear has been troubling you so long and your immunity is probably very weakened from all the drugs, you may want to add more than just garlic to any remedies that are natural for the ear. I believe plantain is good also.

And I second ear candling! Gets rid of a lifetime build up of wax, yeast, bacteria, dead yeast, leftover gunk from childhood infections, tar, whatever. Just dont go in the wind during the first 24 hrs after candling - give time for your ear to build up protective wax again.

For swimmers ear a mix of isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar, or lemon, can help - I wouldnt use if percoloated, though, which it probably is since its been going on so long.

Sorry about your pain and hope you get better soon! Ear infections are hell,

God Bless

Erin
