Guest guest
Thank you for your response. I'm not sure when you sent out the post ( I check my email twice daily) but I've had my puppy home since Thursday night. The vet was VERY RELUCTANT to let me bring him home. She tried to convince me that I could not keep him hydrated at home (even if I administered sub-q's, which I didn't this time around). She told me that he was very, very ill in guarded condition, and that he needed to go back to the emergency clinic where they could monitor him 24 hours a day (@ $500 per day) because he would not be able to keep his fluids or his medication down, and even if he could keep them down, he would not be able to absorb them. I thanked her for her concern and care for the first 24 hours (which cost me $1000.00 including a vast array of tests and x-rays), and I assured her that I have nursed two dogs back to health from parvo in the past. I brought the little guy home, gave him CS in addition to the antibiotics she had sent with me, and began giving him 1tsp. of water orally every half hour, gradually increasing it through the night. I gave him Reiki treatments three times during the night also. By the next morning, he was able to drink as much water as he wanted, and I began feeding him baby rice cereal and mashed, boiled chicken, again starting with 1 tsp. at a time and building from there. Now, two days later, he's bouncing all over the place, acting like he never got sick, and has a twinkle in his eyes. :0) Have a great day!
