Click here to demand a more fuel-efficient car Dear Dr.V.N.Sharma, We were in the middle of the campaign to save Olive Ridley Turtles in, when the sky came crashing down. Oil prices skyrocketed, and the cost of everything went completely haywire. Speaking of which, remember the last time you ruffled for some change to pay at the petrol pump. We don't either. It seems like something from a dream. But what is clear and present is spiraling fuel costs. And worse, the resultant inflation, which has touched an all-time high in 13 years. Which simply means everything is going to be a lot more expensive. Not to mention that the petrol you're paying for is going up in smoke, and fuelling global warming. You already know that. But what you don't is that you can actually do something about it by demanding that a mandatory Fuel Efficiency Law be passed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. Essentially, car manufacturers will have to deliver fuel-efficient cars – cars that give more mileage per litre. They already do so in other countries. So why should we settle for anything less in India? It's logical. Fuel efficiency will cut your costs, lower the inflation rate, and lower your carbon emissions. Commonsense dictates that you demand for a fuel efficiency law. Have a car? Sign up to demand a Fuel Efficiency Law Don't have a car? And still bearing the brunt of absurd oil prices? Add your name too Brikesh SinghClimate Campaigner, Greenpeace India P.S. By the way, nearly 90,000 Tata customers like you and me have already joined the campaign to stop the port in Dhamra. That fight's not over yet, there's a lot more to be done, and we'll be getting back to you very soon on what's to be done next.
