Solebury School's Creative Thinkers Series continued with guest speaker Dennis Kyne, an Iraqi War Veteran who served in the Army for 15 years as a medic in combat and as a Drill Sergeant. Kyne told the audience of 150 about the health effects of depleted uranium on our soldiers and the civilians in Iraq. He has been speaking out about the effects of war since 2003, when he left the military. Kyne has toured Japan, Germany, Mali, France, hundreds of U.S. cities and many elementary, high

school and college campuses around the world presenting the environmental and health effects of depleted uranium on Gulf War veterans and Iraqi children. He is a founding member of Veterans for Peace in the Bay Area California and Veterans Working Together for Peace & Justice through non-violence. He recently ran for city council in San Jose, California stating, "I want my district to be a leading district for peace." Kyne graduated from San Jose State University’s School of Political Science, cum laude in 1995, as a Dean’s Scholar and a member of Phi Sigma Alpha’s Political Science honor society. He is the author of Support the Truth, a look at the military industrial complex, and is featured in Soldiers Speak Out, two short films of Iraq war veterans talking about their experiences and the recruiting process.
