GMO Protest Meet at Jantar Mantar on 6th May. FIGHT !! IT IS YOUR CAUSE!!

Dear Friends,The Coalition for GM Free India is holding a huge protest meet AGAINST GMOs at Jantar Mantar. Some details of what we are planning to do is at the end of the mail. Farmers, Activists, Intellectuals, NGO workers etc from ALL OVER INDIA will be converging at the venue on that day. WE WOULD INVITE ALL OF YOU WHO ARE AT DELHI ON THAT DAY. If you are nearby please take the trouble of travelling to the city.IT IS YOUR CAUSE. If you do not attend and if we cannot ban GM crops then we will be faced with a Hobsons choice. Die of the GM food or die of hunger AS ALL FOOD AS WE KNOW IT WILL BE CONTAMINATED.The situation is alarming. We have received information from Dr Mercola of the USA who has cited the instances of Morgellon's Disease being linked to agrobacterium, the kind used in the process of Genetic Modification. Jennifer Ruby has cited how exposure to GM crop/eating it can cause a condition very similar to autism in children because of a compound used in the process. Soya allergies are up BY 50% after GM Soya was allowed in the USA. And of course we have read the "Genetic Roulette", The Documented Health Risks from

Genetically Engineered Food by Jeffrey M Smith.Bt Cotton is spreading faster than the lobbying and corruption that has become synonymous with the term. Bt Brinjal WILL BE THE FIRST GM FOOD WE WILL BE SUBJECTED TO. Cattle have died in large numbers after eating Bt Cotton fodder. WHAT WILL BE OUR FATE?Don't sit and watch. The protest is at Jantar Mantar. We will sit at Jantar Mantar the

whole day - from 10 am to 5.30 pm. There will about 1000 to 1200 of us.

 

There will be speeches where at least one member per state will

get an opportunity to speak to the gathering [10 am to 12 noon?]. There

will be a half-hour film to be screened. A group of artists are also

putting together a play which will be enacted in the morning [before 2

pm].

 

We will also try and form a human chain with all the local

language banners held together from 10-15 states, for a little while in

the morning itself.

 

From 2 pm to 3.30 pm, we have invited people from Delhi

representing political parties and well-known personalities to

join us and extend solidarity to the cause. Some people are giving us

written messages which will be read out.

 

THE MEDIA IS ALSO BEING INVITED DURING THIS TIME. PLS. TELL YOUR

VERNACULAR MEDIA TO COME DURING THIS TIME, IF THEY ALSO WANT TO COVER

THE SOLIDARITY FROM SOME LEADERS.

In the evening [at around 3.30 pm or 4 pm], we will form a

delegation which will take a letter to the Prime Minister's office,

signed by all of us, along with the signed banners from all states. In

a meeting on the 5th, we will decide on the delegation and its actions.

 

Meanwhile, on the 4th evening, there is a projection of "No GM" photos happening for engaging the public in Delhi on the issue.
