Guest guest
- Dr. Leo Rebello Aniket Prakash Amte Monday, February 11, 2008 12:23 AM Dear Dr. Vikas Amte and Dr. Prakash Amte: I am so sorry to note that your esteemed father and friend of the poor and downtodden and Saint of Wardha is no more. But he lived quite long and passed away with his intellect intact and died contented to see his sons, grand children taking his mantle ably. As you know, I participated in the Bharat Jodo Abhiyan and some of my poems were used during that Cycle March from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. I am also enclosing a photograph of my visit to Anandwan, (Somnath, Hemalkasa and Tadoba National Park), etc. Please convey my sympathies to your esteemed mother Sadhnatai. Baba may have ceased to walk in flesh, but his spirit will be there in every thornless Rose that will bloom, in every heart of thousands of people that he helped and in all the students that he taught. Recently there was a talk that he should be decorated with the Bharat Ratna, which ofcourse the Govt. of the day did not heed as the myopic leaders cannot see beyond politicians for that highest honour. Now if the Govt. were to honour him posthomously you should not accept it like Subhash Chandra Bose's family refused to accept it, because posthomous awards make no sense. As Baba had rightly observed, "my Award lies in the happiness of the people whom I serve". May his spirit keep guiding the future generation lacking in leadership, high ideals and humane vision. In sympathy, Dr. Leo Rebello World Peace Envoy Mumbai www.healthwisdom.org
