Guest guest
The word 'stress' in common English usage means conditions causing hardship or times of trouble, danger and tension. This term in medicine has many different connotations. It may be best used to denote psychosocial situations including physical and mental illnesses which can produce disorganization of behavior. Stress can be defined " as stimulus or change in the external or internal environment in terms of strength, intensity or duration, so as to tax the adaptive capacity of the organism to its limit, and which, in certain circumstances, can lead to a disorganization of behavior or maladaptation or a dysfunction which may lead to diseases. " It is evident, therefore, that both bodily illnesses, physical situations like exposure to extremes of temperature, etc., and psychosocial aberrations could constitute stress for an individual. In case of physical stress the severity of illness or situation would decide the bodily response to that stress. On the other hand, the power or force of psychosocial stress is determined by the individual's perception regarding its capacity to challenge or threaten his well-being. The response to such a situation would largely be affective and may vary from denial, displacement to rationalization and self-deception. http://naturalbodycures.com/yoga_med1.aspx
