Passing of Dr.Serafina Corsello

I wish I had kept up with her more.

I received this message from her daughter.

Dr.Corsello was treated very unfairly by the NYS Medical Authorities, I hope

she finds the peace that eluded her since unfairly losing her medical

license.

Dear Friends and Family,

 

As most of you know by now, my mother passed away on Friday, February 20th.

In the worst of possible illnesses, it happened in the best of possible ways.

My mother was home in her lovely apartment in New York City, her music

playing and with me by her side.

 

Please excuse this most impersonal contact by email, but I feel it would be

almost impossible for me to contact each of you by phone. There seems to be

no good way to tell dear friends and family that a loved one has died.

Although many of us were prepared for this moment, it is still hard to believe

and I

find myself floating in and out of belief and disbelief. It will simply take

time.

 

Many of you have asked about funeral arrangements and if you can send

flowers and all of the details that spring to mind once such news has been

received. What I can tell you today is that we are having a funeral mass at my

mother's church on Columbus Avenue at 60th Street(St. Paul the Apostle) and a

gathering to celebrate her life at the Funeral Home (Frank E. Campbell Funeral

Chapel) on 1076 Madison Avenue at 81st Street. The date and time for these

events is still in flux, but will be either in two or three weekends. By this

timeframe I am sure that many of you understand that it was my mother's

strongest

wish to be cremated and as such no burial will take place. In lieu of

flowers, I have thought to have donations made to the organization that most

suits

her work and vision. All of these details will follow in a separate email in

a few days.

 

I appreciate all of your offers of help and support and your kind words of

comfort. Please know that I am receiving them all.

 

My mother was an extraordinary person of great spirit and vitality with a

seemingly endless supply of love. It is these images that will remain with me

forever....and I know with you all as well.
