Guest guest
Hi Health Activists, A bill has been introduced in the NYS Assembly Health Committee A11136 by Chairman Richard Gottfried and a companion bill in the NYS Senate by Health Committee Chairman Kemp Hannon S8298. The bill streamlines and strengthens the procedures for disciplinary proceedings against physicians, by publicizing the charges against physicians and creating a Committee on Professional Medical Conduct to hear charges. Alternative Physicians have in the past publicized the charges against them to build patient support. But the bill does not say much about the Due Process rights of physicians or the application of the rules of evidence that must apply to an investigation and hearing if necessary. The history of the Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) in its failure to notify licensees of the origin of charges despite a lack of patient complaints has not been addressed In order to protect your ability to find a doctor who practices alternative medicine, it is important that you call Governor Patterson's office 212-681-4580, Assemblyman Gottfried's office 212-807-7900 and Senator Hannon's Nassau Office 516-739-1700. Ask that they amend A11136 and S8298 to provide due process rights and rules of evidence to allow physicians to submit medical and scientific documentation to support the treatment used, without restrictions demanding the presence of the author. Initiation of charges in the absence of a patient complaint of harm should not be permitted. arnold **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers.
