My son (who just turned two at the end of February) is having a hard

time this weekend. I'm thinking it's allergies. His eyes are running,

as well as his nose, and he is coughing. He is also running a fever

which has peaked to about 103, but we are keeping it under control.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for him to feel better? I am

giving him Ibuprofen/Tylenol for fever, but I'm hesitant for anything

else. He's miserable, and we need some relief. Please help! Thanks!

Please try to get some homeopathy for emergencies like this - if you give

your little one some Cell Salts - Ferr. Phos 6x and then also Aconite 12x

this would be gone in no time - try and get the Ferr from your HFS - they

often stock them - and the Aconite too if you're lucky - otherwise the

Washington Homeopathic company will have it

Hi,

We had the same problem, allergies, with both of our

boys. The older one had his in the form of hives and

ear infections, while the younger one had the teary

eyes and runny nose. For our older one, the only

thing that worked was a prescription from the

allergist until the age of three. We moved and in the

move, the three bottles were broken in a crash. The

new pediatrician refused to give him that med. and

nothing else helped. We ended up taking him to a

herbal doctor, who put him on some herbs, which really

helped. He is now much better, although after a

recent move, has allergies again, though only the

runny nose. It helps that he is also a good deal

older.

Our younger boy never had luck with the herbs. With

him, it was just having to try to limit where he went

and to use Benadryl. He did have it far worse,

overall. As an infant and toddler, he would vomit

when he ate an allergen (peas), otherwise, for all

airborn stuff, he had the runny nose bit. Neither of

our boys ever had fever with allergy illness, though,

so I can't say much about that. Keeping the food

allergens away was easy, and still is, although the

food list has gotten longer. What now works well for

him is homeopathic remedies by Newton's. That is the

only company that has worked for him.

Good luck!

I would suggest giving children's aspirin, it lowers fever better then Tylenol.

Also just so that you are aware, allergies do not cause fevers, and in a child

that young I would be very concerned about such a high fever. Make sure he gets

enough fluids, and you should probably make an appointment with your pediatric

doctor.

Stage one with allergies should always be change your a/c filter every few

months. Preferably with one of the more pricey filters. And always run

either heat or ac. Never just " air " because you encourage condensation in

the ducts and may promote mold growth. Also electrostatic air filters in

the house help. I've got an " ionic breeze " which really freshens the air in

one room.

Your son is suffering from worm problem. Fever which comes in the evening and

rise up to 103 or more generally generates from stomach where you will find that

stomach is much inflamed - burning like fire, legs are cold, lips and cheeks

are shining deep pink and patient when temperature rises and he will not accept

any solid food only ask for water. The medicine you are applying may reduce the

flare of temperature but it will back to square A once the action of the

medicine is diluted. If you are interested in homoeo treatment, you may like to

mail me at subratadashomoeo for better advise and prescription for

free.

Did you know tylenol lowers glutathione levels? I can't find my links

for you but you can read about glutathione on my website.

www.buttercuppuppies.com It would be on my autism page and my

health/links page. Different info on beach page.

Good luck,

Hi Kc,

It is so hard to watch your child be sick, you just want to help them

feel better. Poor little guy sounds like he is pretty miserable.

Allergy's can cause the fever because it creates upper respiratory

infection.

My question to you is what are you using for cleaners, laundry

products, air fresheners, shampoo, and bath soaps. If you are not using

green cleaners and laundry products, the change might help him a lot,

and there is a lot of harmful chemicals in bath soaps and shampoos for

children.

I would like to tell you about my daughter who is 30 now, and was

diagnosed with allergy's and asthma at age 6. She has two children and

of course they were both diagnosed with allergy's and asthma. When we

think of allergy's we often think of outside elements, but most people

spend most of their time inside. Over a year ago my daughter changed to

green cleaners, and safer personal care, without all of the harmful

chemicals in them. She told me about a month ago that this last year is

the first time in 24 years that she did not have to use steroids or

antibiotics. Her and the children are off of all their medications, and

no longer catch everything that is going around. The chemicals in store

bought brands can cause a lot of things, and allergy's are on top of

that list.

I am going to pass along to you a couple of things that might help you

with your son. First go to your search engine and enter " Toxic Brew " ,

there are 2 great video's to watch on the harms of chemicals in your

home. They are put together by Scientists, Doctor's, and Environmental

Specialist. Very informative information. If you would like to find a

place to shop for green products I will pass along to you what my

daughter and I use. Go to www.smartlivingsense.com there is a toxic

check list on that site that is very good, along with a free ebook on

living green. This is a wellness co. so they have all kinds of natural

remedy's. If you want more information please email me, I would be glad

to help you any way that I can. My daughter or I do not sell these

products, just happy customers.

Hope this info helps you with your son.

So sorry to hear about your son. My also suffers from allergies and

asthma. What seems to work for him includes the following remedies:

running a steamy shower and allowing him to inhale the steam (not too

hot). It adds moisture to his lungs and quiets the cough. Also, a

cool mist humidifier (make sure it is large enough to provide

adequate mist for the room) is also helpful to add moisture and quell

the cough. A natural saline solution used as a nasal spray is

helpful to drain the sinuses and keeping his head elevated so that

the mucus does not settle in the back of the throat helps as well.

Hydration is also very important as the body cannot achieve

homeostasis if dehydrated and with a fever, dehydration quickly sets

in. A fever lasting several days could be a sign of an acute

infection so you may want to seek professional support for that

part. I hope this helps.
