Guest guest
Dear Maureen, We on the Bates method group are primarily interested in improving eyesight by means of the discoveries of Dr William Bates, but it has been known for a long time that eyesight and hearing are closely linked, and that both can be improved by relaxation. (This is what Dr Bates, 1860 - 1932, an eye-doctor, discovered.) We were discussing hearing a few weeks ago, so I forwarded your message on to the Bates group asking if anyone could help. This is the first reply, from Radisa, I hope it helps. (The word myope means short-sighted, or near-sighted.) All best wishes, Stewart P.s. " Palming " of the ears is often used to bring about relaxation of the tiny auditory muscles, as is palming of the eyes to relax the eyes and mind. - " Radisa Djordjevic " <raddjo " Bates List " <batesmethod > 30 October 2005 11:04 [bates] Help for Tinnitus > > Hi Maureen > My experience says that ringing in the ears comes from the head and neck position. > Being a myope I kept my head pressed down, out in front and forehead slightly bent > down. > I do some practice now to lift the head up and little bit back, chin slightly tucked > in towards chest (but not tooo much!!!) You make a tapping noise. It willsound like a drumming noise. You do this a lotand you may find your tinnitus will subside.Understand--you close up the opening of yourear completely with your first finger, then tapwith your second finger. Since the openingof your ear is completely closed, you will heara hollow drumming sound when you tap.Another simpler method is just to stick a fingerin each ear and vigorously move your fingertipsup and down. This makes a noise in your earsalso. In both of these techniques, it is making noisein your ears that seems to help.I am now 70 years of age. My hearing is poor.Tinnitus crept up on me slowly. I didn't know I had ituntil one night it stopped suddenly and I jumped outof my chair and said, "Come in?" I thought I hadheard a sound. What I actually had heard wassilence.OK. My tinnitus started to get worse and worse. It started to drive me nuts. What is terrible aboutit is that you can't stop it and the more you concentrateon it, the worse it gets. Its the same principle as theChinese water tortune where drops of water hittingyour head become like sledgehammer blows themore you concentrate on them.My sister, much younger, got it years ago after shewent to a doctor to get her ears cleaned out andhe did something to pop her ear drum so that sheheard t his terrible whining noise. She then heardit all the time. She said it sometimes is so loudit wakes her up from a sound sleep. I haven'tasked her about it lately , but it was really badfor a while. Here's how I really stopped it cold. I did it witha Bates technique. I just summoned up the memoryof a black dot in my mind while I was lying in bed,and it was like I had thrown a switch in my head and turned it off. It just stopped instantly.Once I knew I could control it, I stopped worryingabout it. It's concentrating your attention on it thatmakes it so bad. It occasionally comes back, butI don't worry about it and it generally goes awayby itself. I think there is a naturopathic remedy for it thatyou might try. Anything you can do to get your mind off the soundwill be good. Exercise may distract you. A fewglasses of fine wine may take your mind off theproblem. A few more will take your mind offeverything. There is another technique I just remembered Iread about in some alternate health publication. You get one of those vibrating tooth brushes. You cover the toothbrush part of it with a rubberthumb of the type people use when collatingpapers. You put that gently into your ear. Thevibration and sound is supposed to be good. Also please note that it is very difficult to absorb into the system and get it to the cellular level. Injections are the fastest way.Once everyone "bones-up" on Magnesium, I trust you realize that it is important for our vision too.Best regards.Johanbatesmethod , Tom1a@a... wrote:>> There is a remedy derived from Chinese medicine> that goes like this.> > You press the little flap of springy flesh-covered> cartilege that is in the front of the ear (the "tragus"> it is called) close to the opening of the ear with> your first finger, closing up the opening of the ear.> Then you tap the top of your first finger with your> second finger.
