Guest guest
Unfortunately, our food is so tainted now, even the freshest of vegetables, (unless organically grown) are so depleted of vitamins and minerals it is just about impossible to get even the minimum requirement in your daily diet. Also, I have found that many of these studies are now being funded by drug companies, even though it may not appear to be without further investigation, who would love for us to reach for one of their drugs to fix our ills instead of supplements, herbs, homeopathics. Others may believe the hype these recent studies are reporting, but from my personal experience as a clinical nutritionist of 30+ years and also from personal experience with myself and family, I have found the original studies of usefulness to still hold true and will continue to use them and suggest them. Although, we must always have our eyes open wide to all medical/nutritional news, we must also be wary in this day and age. Look through any magazine and watch tv for one hour and what will you see? Drug commercials/ads. That should tell you something about who owns the power and control right now. Guest guest
The article was not advocating the excessive use of drugs or vitamins. And it is also well known that the typical American diet is sadly lacking in the required quantity of vegetables and fruits, the main source of vitamins and minerals. And supplements in the optimal dose are needed by most of the population. But excessive intake of these supplements in the belief that they make up for imbalanced nutrition is the idea that was being discouraged in the said article.
