Bach flower remedies

Yes, I have lots of anecdotes about the efficacy of flower essences. I have

a few files of letters that people have written to me about using my

essences. One I remember is a woman who does not have a strong constitution

and whom got carried away by her love of the ocean. She body surfed for much

longer than she should have in the cold water and when she came out she could

not get warm at all. She tried everything from drying off, taking a hot

shower, drinking hot tea etc and nothing was bringing any warmth back into

her body. She was starting to think she'd have to be rushed to the hospital

when she remembered that she had a bottle of my Emergency Relief essence in

her purse and she said that when the first drop hit her tongue she felt all

the warmth whoosh back into her body in an instant.

Another story that I'll always remember is the one by a woman who used my

" Grieving " combination essence as part of her healing from some sexual abuse

in the past. She had been in therapy for some time and had yet to be able to

cry although she really wanted to. She called me 3 weeks after receiving the

essence to tell me that as soon as she had taken the essence she had started

to cry. She cried and released on and off for a couple of days and then in

the weeks following had many small memories of things, some of which she had

forgotten, that had happened in her life...and each just flowed through her

and floated away. She felt she released a lifetime reservoir of grief in

those weeks.

>Hi Swamy,

I dug out the book and it is called " Illustrated Handbook of of the

Bach Flower Remedies by Philip M Chancellor.

Chapter 11 is about the crab apple and they call it the 'cleansing'

remedy for despondency and despair. I don't think I feel despondant

or desperate but I am pretty fed up with my big belly!

The book also appears to speak in term of applying the remedy to your

bath or as a lotion.

It quotes the positive aspect of crab appple as being people who

maintain complete control of their thoughts, and who have the wisdom

to see things in their correct proportions. They are broadminded

people who do not dwell on trifles, and who realize that any

manifestation of a physical disorder is due to an inner disharmony,

thus it is within their own power to transmute in into harmony.

I would say that this is me but I am not sure if this is meant to be

before or after I have taken the crab apple!

The book has always confused me.

Dear Swamy,

do you consider Ascites to be a gyny problem or a stomach disorder?

The reason I ask is because the two nurses that I mentioned before

gave me an ultrasound but they concentrated on my lower abdominal

area even though I pointed out to them that the bloating was in the

upper abdominal area. The examination was extrememly uncomfortable

as they kept rubbing the instrument over the scar from my op, despite

my expressing how painful this was. The clinic I attended for this

was not a gyny clinic, so I came away feeling that the whole

examination was inapropriate and that they were incompetant and

ignorant. This was a year or so ago, hence my interest in some other

kind of healing treatment and my reluctance to return to my local

NHS. Our local hospital has no stars in the rating system.

Would it be unsafe to assume that I have Ascites anyway and go ahead

with some kind of alternative remedy?

Dear Katrina,

Asites is not a gynec problem. It can be general. Liver Function Test

and a competent examination by a physician, not by a nurse, will

reveal. If you are not satisfied with the local NHS, you could seek

out a physician for one private consultation instead of going ahead

with a treatment that may not be addressing the actual problem.

If you must do that way, I would strongly suggest that you go to

www.hpathy.com and register yourself at the Forum. Afte registering

and logging in, look for the topic, 'Homeopathic Questionnaire' and

then copy that questionnaire, fill in your answers and post as a New

Topic. There are several professional homeopaths, and some of them

will help you. All this is free of course. Only if you need to

specifically work with a homeoath, taking his/her time, you may need

to pay his/her fee.

While the procedure looks simple, let me warn you that the

questionnaire is very extensive and also that you are taking a big

responsibility on yourself in writing down symptoms correctly and for

the outcome of the treatment.

Does this 'swelling' keep changing its size, shape etc., or has it

remained constant? Are you still menstruating or have you entered

menopause? Sorry for asking, since all the information which you

might have provided earlier is not in memory.

Best wishes.

---Hi Swamy,

I am wonderfully free from menustration since my op in May 2000 and

I started my menopause this summer with hot flashes being my worst

symptom. The bloating has been present since my op and it has

remained constant resembling a five month pregnancy. It does not

change its size or shape but I have occasional bouts of severe wind

when I feel some relief and think to myself, maybe this means the

bloating will at last go away, but alas it does not.

Dear Katrina,

I still suggest that you get a thorough exam by an internist. It

could be 'air' traped inside due to anxiety or Ascites or abdominal

fat, though that looks unlikely.

One more question. Did your weight go up or stay constant with this

increase? If it is water accumulation, weight would increase maximum.

Fat will be somewhat less. If it is swallowed air, weight increase

will be zero.

Once you know the actual problem, treatment can be focussed.

Best wishes.
