More likely bread is killing us - just a matter of HOW FAST or SLOW.

This is from one of my favorite doctors - William Campbell Douglass, MD.

It's powerful, important info.

Daily DoseAugust 26, 2003**************************************************************Man can't live by bread alone - even if it is "whole wheat" I don't care what they taught you in Sunday school, bread is not the staff of life. Try living on bread and water for a while and you will see what I mean. In six weeks you will be in very bad shape; in six months, you will be dead. You could live on eggs and water for a lifetime. I have told this story before but it is worth telling again: A friend of mine was kidnapped in Guatemala about 15 years ago. He was held in a cave for six weeks and all he had to eat was boiled eggs and water. When he was rescued, he was healthier than when he went into captivity. All his blood studies were normal: blood sugar, cholesterol, protein, liver function - everything. Which brings me to the following report from the mainstream. "Research suggests that a diet full of starchy foods, such as white rice, white bread, and potatoes, may increase a person's risk of pancreatic cancer, especially in people who are overweight or sedentary. Instead, round out your diet with unrefined grains, such as brown rice and whole-wheat bread, and less starchy vegetables, such as broccoli." The message here is that "white is bad, brown is good." But, as with so many things in the confused area of nutrition, it's only a half-truth, and a half-truth can sometimes be more detrimental in the long run than a complete lie. Just because a food is brown doesn't make it healthy. You don't need bread, rice, potatoes, beans, spaghetti, yucca, or any other starch in your diet at all. My message is, whether the starch is brown or white, it's still starch and not essential to a healthy diet. It is, in fact, detrimental. I recommend a diet that is at least 60 percent animal based, i.e., dairy and animal fat and protein from almost anything that crawls, flies, oinks, barks, hisses, cackles, or grunts. There are exceptions, of course: no human. And you might want to go light on the buzzard.
