This morning Pam and I were reflecting back to when we were havingmajor health issues such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, acidreflux and, even later on, Diabetes. We were talking about the thingsthat we had done that led up to those issues. We quickly realized thatall those things were brought about by "INSTANT" living. What is "INSTANT" living? Well, in one way or another we all are livingan "Instant" lifestyle. Forty years ago, we didn't even know what"instant" anything was. EVERYTHING was made from scratch. Most peopletoday don't even know what "made from scratch" means. People back thendidn't mind having to put TIME into their cooking, sewing and evengardening. Even though they didn't have the "modern" appliances that wehave today that is supposed to "save" time, nothing was "INSTANT". Somecall this technology, some call it modernization, we call it poorjudgement.Today EVERYTHING is "INSTANT". Below are just a few examples:"INSTANT" tea"INSTANT" pudding"INSTANT" potatoes"INSTANT" coffee"INSTANT" grits (this one is a southern thing)"INSTANT" oats"INSTANT" microwaveable meals"INSTANT" veggies (just put it in the microwave and heat it up)"FAST FOODS""DRIVE THRU" restaurants, banks, dry cleaners, car washes & pharmaciesAnd last but certainly not least, "INSTANT" weight loss (ie....gastricbypass surgery)I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Although "instant" issupposed to have its advantages, what it REALLY HAS is major long termnegative effects on your health. As the "microwave generation", we donot want to "WAIT" on or for anything. WE WANT IT "INSTANTLY"! If wecan't get it "INSTANTLY", we say it didn't work. The whole concept ofthe "INSTANT" lifestyle is to have freedom of time because "INSTANT"living doesn't take as much time. But, we still have less today of whatthis lifestyle has promised. FREEDOM OF TIME!!!What this "lifestyle" has done is OVERDELIVERED on life long, chronichealth problems. I have already named a few, but others are: cloggedarteries, heart attacks, strokes, all kinds of DE-generative diseases, and in some cases even premature death. Proof positive came when afriend from our church told us last night that her nephew had a massiveheart attack and died just last week. He was only 41 years of age. Alot of people would like to ask if he was a smoker. Although studieshave shown that smoking does increase the risk of heart disease andstroke, it playing a role in this gentlemen's death is debatible. What Pam and I have begun to see is that this trend is beginning totrickle into our decision to live a more healthy lifestyle. Even thoughPam and I agree that diets are NOT the solution to effective, long termweight loss. When someone goes on a "diet" and doesn't see results"INSTANTLY", they give up and move to the next thing. This in turncompletely and totally destroys their metabolism. We even do this withnutritional products, exercise equiptment, exercise programs, etc....WHAT HAS HAPPENED?????Nothing out there is going to give"INSTANT" results. If it did, itwould be called a "miracle". The key to having life changing results in anything whether it be exercise, a balanced diet (not dieting forweight loss), taking nutritional supplements etc. is not expecting theresults you want to be "INSTANT". You did not get where you are, or inthe health dilemma you are in in three, six, or even 12 months. It tookyou your ENTIRE life to get you to the point you are now!!!I think it's about time we start making a commitment to choose the BESTthing and stick with it!!! Health and wellness, just like junk food, fast food and lack of exercise, is a "LIFESTYLE". You may ask, "How doI know what to do??" The best way to find that out is to findsomething that others have had long term results with, see if there issomething for you, do it and COMMITT to it!!! Make the decision NOW tocreate a new lifestyle, quit expecting results to be "INSTANT" andstick by your decision.Pam and I made that very decision. We saw friends that were gettingresults that we could see and tell that something about them wasdifferent. At that time, we were dealing with a lot of the same healthissues that many of you are dealing with now. We investigated, made thecommitment, and have had major life changing, life enhancing results. Why? We didn't expect the results to come "INSTANTLY" and stuck withit. NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!Choose to be different. Choose not to be part of the "INSTANT" crowd.Health and wellness is a lifestyle and takes a LIFETIME...
