Guest guest
Does anyone have any ideas of any supplement that would make me less attractive to mosquitos and biting flies? I don't wear scented lotions or perfume, but I don't really like using insect repellents either. Skin So Soft does nothing for me, they just hold their breath and bite me anyway!! I swear they leave other people and come to bite me, and then the darn things itch like crazy until they heal. Any ideas?
Guest guest
I have heard that taking Vitamin B6 or Brewer's Yeast can help make the little buggers hate biting you! I'm SURE this has something to do with blood chemistry. When we lived in New Jersey, my husband was tormented by constant sand flea bites on his legs. They'd land on me and JUMP OFF! Now, in Florida, I've had maybe 6 or so fire ant bites - he's been tortured by them, constantly!!! Anybody else have ideas for this? Linda Like Seasilver? Then you'll LOVE THIS! www.prostarvitamin.com/22284 - " Diane Michelson " <dianemic <nature cure > Tuesday, July 08, 2003 7:59 AM [nature cure] mosquitos and biting flies > Does anyone have any ideas of any supplement that would make me less > attractive to mosquitos and biting flies? Guest guest
This is a reply as a non-scientist: I have been bitten for years - they attack me in the winter cold in the UK when no one else could possibly be bitten. I've tried B vits and the opposite - no difference. Garlic - nothing. Even covering myself in citronella on a golf course - no difference. The only thing I've ever found out is that it's only the females that bite!! (I really have no comment to make!!!) Best of luck everyone - if you find a cure please pass it on! chris
Guest guest
Gee, Diane, are you diabetic, too? My Dad and I are Type II and the flies and mosquitoes have loved us both since I can remember. Dad and Mom would sleep in the same bed but if there was even 1 mosquito in the house then he'd wake up covered in bites and Mom would be fine. I now live where there are few mosquitoes but the ants recently started biting me! They get up on my bed!! Yeah, if anyone knows a supplement to make folks less attractive, I'd love to know, too. - Anna P.S. Don't wear tropical tanning oil (that smells like coconut) because I had gnats coming from a 3 state area to land on me when I did that. My legs looked like raisin oatmeal cookies with all the clumps of gnats on them. Spent the afternoon flicking gnats off myself but they were landing as fast as I could flick... Guest guest
citronella, is a natural substance and very effective against all insects, they really hate it. it is concentrated lemon. it comes in candles, incence and lotions. worth a try? also eat loads of garlic as they don't like the taste of garlicky blood, in any case you'll be doing yourself a favour as garlic is a real tonic to the body. some say alcohol puts them off too, as in if you drink it. so here's what you do: you go into your lovely garden and light the citronella candle. have some really strong garlic bread and a large gin and tonic. perfect way to stay whole, unbitten, pissed and fat. love lulu xx
Guest guest
NatureLovers, Has anybody tried Neem for mosquito and flea bites. Neem oil can be applied topically and Neem tablets can be taken internally. Neem works as a blood purifier and when there are no impurities in blood, mosquitoes are repelled and do not bite. A clinical trial has also been performed on the mosquito repellent action of NEEM OIL : Repellent action of neem oil was evaluated against different mosquito species. 2% neem oil mixed in coconut oil provided 96-100% protection from anophelines, 85% from Aedes, 37.5% from Armigeres whereas it showed wide range of efficacy from 61-94% against Culex spp. Therefore, neem oil can be applied as a personal protection measure against mosquito bites. Guest guest
So what does one do if the Neem makes one's skin itch worse than the mosquito bites? I'm itchy all over (and especially itchy on my back) when I take Neem. - Anna At 01:08 PM 7/11/03 +0530, you wrote: >NatureLovers, > >Has anybody tried Neem for mosquito and flea bites. Guest guest
Dear Anna, It is possible that your skin might itch due to Neem. Why does that happen ? According to me, since Neem purifies the blood and works on the skin, in some people , the skin pores are closed and the oil or dirt which sits on the skin make the skin itch. If you wash or bathe with a rosewater/glycerine soap and drink 8-10 glasses of water every day, I am sure this problem would go away. Itching may also happen in humid weather. You can get a full body treatment done by a herbalist to open your skin pores so that impurities are removed. In India, this is basically done with a special mud or sandalwood paste or honey.
