Use of multivitamin and mineral supplements is common among U.S. adults, yet few well-designed trials have assessed the reputed benefits. Multivitamin and mineral supplements or placebo taken daily for one year were given to type 2 diabetics, aged 45 to 64 years. More participants receiving placebo reported an infectious illness over the study year than did participants receiving multivitamin and mineral supplements. Among diabetic participants receiving placebo, 93 percent reported an infection compared with 17 percent of those receiving supplements. Infection-related absenteeism was also higher in the placebo group than in the treatment group (57 percent vs. 21percent). Source: Annals of Internal Medicine 2003;138(5):365-71. betty I've been a fan of all around multiple vitamin, mineral, enzyme, etc. supplements for most of my life, and have tried many of them. Most taste terrible and so people won't stay on them. I found an astonishing one (in sig line) and it's got an amazing 179 ingredients. It's helping lower my sugars, and I feel better than I have in ages. We're also saving over $200.00 a month because we have been able to cut out at least 8 separate supplements in the process! It's sad but we can only get it in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, so far. :-( If this sounds self-serving, it isn't. I don't make much for promoting this - I can make a whole lot more selling numerous INDIVIDUAL products - but I must let people know about it because that is the morally right thing to do.
