British scientists may have the answer. They are working on a new pill that combines six compounds -- aspirin, a cholesterol-lowering drug, three blood pressure medications and folic acid -- in one tablet called the Polypill, which they say could cut the risk of heart disease and stroke by more than 80 percent. The Polypill strategy is the brainchild of Professor Nicholas Wald and Professor Malcolm Law, of the University of London, who say the pill would need to be taken by everyone older than 55 and younger people who have a history of cardiovascular disease to achieve the maximum benefit. "The idea, supported by lots of evidence, is that if all of us at 55 take the Polypill that has six ingredients, then 80 percent of heart attacks and stroke could be gotten rid of," Dr. Richard Smith, the editor of the British Medical Journal (BMJ), told a news conference on Thursday. He described the radical new proposal for dealing with cardiovascular disease, which accounted for 16.6 million, or one-third, of global deaths in 2001, as "a step of genius." "Because the ingredients are, or are about to be, off patent, this could be an extremely cheap and simple pill," Smith added. Half of all people will develop heart disease if they live long enough, according to Wald, who reports the findings in the BMJ. The Polypill strategy is based on evidence from 750 clinical trials that have shown the pill's individual components cut the risk of heart disease. They believe combining them in one daily, widely used pill will save lives and have minimal side effects. Oh, SURE!!! Yeah! NO WAY!!! "Probably no other preventive method or treatment would have as great an impact on preventing heart disease in the western world," Wald said. WANT TO BET??? The thing is - all these problems are preventable or reversible with low carb eating, healthy choices, avoiding aspartame, using terrific all purpose nutritional supplementation, and KILLING OFF THE FUNGI AND PARASITES IN YOUR BODY.

We do NOT need drugs! I believe this with all my heart. But Americans, especially, have been brainwashed into thinking we do. When I think of how many needless deaths will take place because people placed their trust in this "super poly pill" - well, it's a living nightmare to me.

The answer? LEARN HOW TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH. IT CAN BE DONE. It's nowhere near as difficult as you've been led to think. We may need the medical profession for emergencies, trauma, and diagnosis, but that's pretty much IT.

I am appalled at this latest news release. :-(

Oh my -I agree w/ you Linda! These people are Crazy- of course the sad part is that its all Greed-driven-NOT because they love mankind so much! It makes me sick! Unfortunately, most people w/ fall for this baloney, and who only knows how many will sufffer for it! We need to get the word out- Not to let these Drug companies ruin our lives, just because they want to make money!!
