Guest guest
Dear Folks, In line with my recently acquired knowledge about how fungi and mycotoxins are the root cause of probably 90% of our most devastating illnesses, I knew that statin drugs are being researched as a way of curing or controlling some of them. So it came as no surprise when I saw the following Reuters news story, this one being dedicated to medicating diabetics to their detriment. I've been WAITING for this article to go public all over the world! Just found it - the "news" that statin drugs (and what a HUGE MONEYMAKER THEY ARE!!!) can help millions of diabetics around the world! I can just imagine the glee these drug manufacturers are experiencing today as they think of fleecing a hundred million unsuspecting diabetics with their overpriced, nasty drugs! But wait! I've already LEARNED from Doug Kaufmann's "Infectious Diabetes" and now "The Fungus Link" WHY they work - they're ANTI-FUNGAL!!! So now we have a choice: pay for statin drugs with their monumental side effects, or GO NATURAL - NEEM, Grapefruit seed or olive leaf extract, garlic, etc.!!! There is no doubt in my mind that Neem is working - I'm on it myself, and have many new folks just starting their personal programs on it - and we are getting results (not always pleasant at this juncture, but necessary as the die-off progresses). Another thing I just learned and must share: the drugs given to transplant patients almost 100% of the time cause high cholesterol, heart disease, etc., because they encourage fungal growth worse than antibiotics do. Is there NO END to the greed of the drug companies?? My job is to let as many people as I can know THERE IS A BETTER WAY. Article follows my sig line. Linda SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR HEALTH?www.AyurvedicHerbsForHealth.com Study Backs Statin Drugs for Millions of DiabeticsReutersJun 12 2003 7:15PMLONDON (Reuters) - One hundred million diabetics around the world could benefit from taking cholesterol-lowering "statin" drugs, British scientists behind a major study into the medicines said on Friday. Most people with diabetes do not currently receive statins, although they are at higher risk of heart disease and strokes than the general population. But a five-year study involving nearly 6,000 patients found taking a once-daily statin pill cut that risk by about a third, even in patients with relatively low cholesterol levels. "What this study indicates quite clearly is that if you have got diabetes, your cholesterol levels are too high for you and that lowering your cholesterol will lower your risk," said Professor Rory Collins of the Clinical Trials Service Unit at Oxford University, lead author of the study. Doctors should now routinely consider giving statins to people with diabetes as the third leg of a strategy which already includes treatment for blood sugar levels and high blood pressure, Collins believes. Such an approach could benefit around two-thirds of diabetics and prevent a million heart attacks and strokes worldwide each year. "There are 150 million people with diabetes around the world. We are saying that at least 100 million probably have a clear indication for statin use," Collins told Reuters. Such an approach would trigger a massive increase in statin use, but Collins said it would be cost-effective for health authorities since a number of cholesterol fighters are now coming off patent. Currently, 40 mg of Merck & Co Inc.'s simavastatin, or Zocor, costs 1.06 pounds per day in Britain, but generics are expected to cost only 10-25 pence. The British patent on Zocor expired last month. Sue Roberts, the UK government's National Clinical Director for Diabetes, said the research showed the preventative benefits of taking statins and she wanted to ensure the lessons of the study were acted on as quickly as possible. Simavastatin was the statin tested in the study but rivals from companies including Pfizer Inc, AstraZeneca Plc and Bristol-Myers Co are expected to work just as well, Collins said. Statins are already among the most widely used medicines in the Western world, generating global sales of around $19 billion a year in a market that is expanding by 15 percent annually. 06/12/03 19:13 ET
