Guest guest
Dear Folks, I recently learned of a new Forum called BetterBalance. Now, I'm really into this concept, as I believe, as do most healers, that IMbalances in the body are pretty much the source of most organic illness. Those IMbalances include pH, minerals, EFAs, enzymes, pollutants, food choices, etc. The moderator, Beverly Kingsford, is a lovely lady and posted her own story of triumph about how she saved the life of her child. I've asked her for permission to post verbatim the story she related. She has kindly granted that permission. Herbs and natural remedies are THE way to control over our health, coupled with clean living, moderate exercise, and moderation in all things. DRUGS are almost never the vehicle of choice - just more to be used in emergencies and until we can correct the imbalance which created the emergency in the first place. Enjoy the story and understand the lesson: YOU MUST TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH YOURSELF. You CANNOT turn this over to the medical profession. We need them, yes, but not to the extent most of us believe. Herbs and whole food supplements are THE WAY to achieving mastery over your health. Drugs are not and never have been. There is a secondary lesson here, as well: TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS. We have within us a vast, innate intelligence greater than any computer on earth, and yet most of us don't even know or recognize it's there, let alone USE IT. Hope everyone benefits greatly from this wonderful story. This is my story.Healthy Happy Living!BeverlyOctober 27, 1987 I gave birth to my first child in Okinawa, Japan. It was a wonderful and exciting time in my life. However, the peaceful joys of infancy would soon be interrupted. At two months of age my new son, Darren, contracted a cough. It was a cold and damp time of year on the island. The cough became increasingly worse until I became concerned enough to make an appointment with a military doctor. The doctor assured me that everything was fine and that I was just a new mother that was overreacting. I explained to him that Darren was coughing so hard and so long that he was vomiting up most of what he had eaten, more than I could hold in my two cupped hands. He informed me that all babies spit up.I left his office feeling like the most uneducated, over-worried mother on the face of the earth. But in my heart, I knew that something was not right. The fourteen-hour flight home was miserable. Darren cried nearly all the way. I was exhausted from all my body had been through with the birth and the many sleepless nights that had followed. I was blessed enough to be on the same flight as the singing group The Jets. They took turns holding and singing to Darren. Their help and kindness was very much appreciated, but I found it difficult to rest hearing the cries and feeling ever more that something was seriously wrong. As soon as I had arrived in the states, I made another doctor's appointment. This time the diagnosis was much different. After a thorough exam and several x-rays, not only did they determine that Darren had pneumonia, but they thought he might have spinal meningitis also. I was horrified that the island doctor had been so seriously mistaken. I was asked to leave the room while the doctors performed a spinal tap on Darren. They thought it would be too difficult for me to witness. It could not have been worse than sitting outside the door and listening to my child scream in pain while my arms ached to hold and comfort him. At that moment I vowed to never mistrust my motherly instincts again. For the next few years I battled one infection after another with Darren. It seemed that he was constantly ill. The doctors prescribed and tried every kind of antibiotic, but as soon as Darren would finish his prescription he would become ill again. Ear infections were the most common battle. They would get so severe that his eardrums would burst before we even knew that something was wrong. Despite all his illness he was a very happy child and rarely complained until he was already quite sick. This made it difficult to catch any sickness in the early stage. When Darren was two and a half I gave birth to a daughter. I decided that I did not want to go through the same battles with another child. The antibiotics seemed to be temporarily effective if at all and they began to show long-term adverse effects. I knew there must be a better way and so I began to search and pray for something better. My second child, a little girl, was only a few months old when I was introduced to the herb Echinacea. It seemed a little strange and I wondered if this nasty-tasting plant could really be of any benefit to us. I would soon find out that this beautiful flower would change my family's life. The next ear infection came along and I decided to give it a try. I was amazed at the results! In only three days Darren's symptoms had subsided and he was well again. I shared the exciting news with my family. They were not so excited. Both my own parents and my in-laws thought I was depriving Darren by limiting his dairy intake and giving him some strange herb. I felt good about what I was doing and trusted my instincts. I decided to prove to them and myself that Darren's cure was more than a mere coincident.Although I felt inspired to use the herb I am a skeptic and I wanted more proof. Over the next several years I tried both conventional medicine and herbs, mainly Echinacea. The results were always the same and I slowly proved to myself the usefulness and necessity of natural healing methods. Unfortunately though, the damage had been done. The excessive intake of antibiotics, and continuing illnesses in his early growing years, has left Darren with a terribly weakened immune system. His body has come to rely on synthetic drugs to do the work for him instead of functioning properly and efficiently the way his Creator intended it to. He has had multiple sets of tubes in his ears and continues to battle ear and sinus infections and has many allergies.Fifteen years and six children later (4 births and 2 step children) I have learned to respect the plants God has created for the use and sustenance of man. He knew what he was doing when he made them and he intended for them to be used in their whole form. Unfortunately, like the bible, man has decided he knows better and has picked out only the parts he thinks he ought to use, therefore loosing the plain and precious things. Often one constituent is removed from an herb and made into a synthetic medicine, thus loosing it's full effect, causing side effects, and even becoming dangerous. These wonderful herbs were placed here for our use and benefit and have been used safely and effectively for thousands of years. A word of caution however, herbs are powerful and potent. You need to know what you are taking, use the correct dose and combinations, and be aware of any contraindications. They are medicine and should be treated as such and like all things should be used in moderation. Don't just jump on the herbal bandwagon taking anything and everything. Taking too many herbs can ruin their effectiveness and does not give you the opportunity to find out which one is working best for you. Our bodies are all unique and they react differently to different herbs. With time and a little experimentation you will find your favorites and get to know your body and it's reactions better. Trust your instincts, prove it to yourself and enjoy a much healthier, happier life. Free Diabetic Newsletters:Newhealth
