How is cinnamon use in diabetic treatment? - Asked by Joseph Ans : Cinnamon boosts insulin activity. You may want to read a little more about this in the book, Food - Your Miracle Medicine, written by Jean Carper (1993 Harper Perennial). Some studies have shown that cinnamon helps people with diabetes metabolize sugar better. In adult-onset (Type II) diabetes, the pancreas produces insulin, but the body can't use it efficiently to break down blood sugar. Researchers discovered that cinnamon reduces the amount of insulin necessary for glucose metabolism. " One-eighth of a teaspoon of cinnamon triples insulin efficiency " say James A. Duke, Ph.D., a botanist retired from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and author of The CRC Handbook of Medicinal Herbs Dr. Duke suggest that people with adult-onset diabetes discuss cinnamon's benefits with their doctor. Taking 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon with each meal may help control blood sugar levels. ================================================================ 3. Ques : I am e-mailing you today to find out if there may be a cure for som marks that have recently appeared on my thighs that may be stretch marks but also appear like a bruise under my skin I do have other stretch marks and they don't look anything like the ones I am referring to. If you could kindly give me suggestions to a remedy for this problem that I have become very self-concious of I would greatly appreciate it. Asked by Sheryl Douglas. Ans : Dear Sheryl, Thanks for choosing me to answer your question. Bruises and stretch marks have a lot of cures in the herbal encyclopoedia. Here are my suggestions : I suspect that these stretch marks and bruises are because of impurities in blood or maybe a skin rash. Are you allergic to something. If yes, don't take those things. The suggestions I list below, you can try 2-3 of these at a time. I would personally start by taking Sandalwood, Tulsi and applying rose oil. Herbs : Sandalwood, Papaya, Aloes, Tulsi (Basil), Khus. Essential Oils: Rose Oil, and Almond Oil. Let me give you each one's uses .... Sandalwood : Sandalwood is one of the most expensive, most exotic, and most aromatic plants known to humans. Grown mostly in the southern parts of India, Sandalwood is a very highly revered plant both in the medicinal world and in Hindu culture. Its seductive fragrance is considered to have many curative properties. Sandalwood has a use in treating most skin problems. It is a cooling agent, stimulant, and blood purifier. Papaya : Every part of the Papaya tree has a medicinal use. Papaya contains the alkaloids carpaine and carposide, an injection of which is used as a cardiac tonic. The enzyme papain, found in Papaya, helps digest protein. It dissolves cancerous cells and tissues. Papaya helps in deep cleansing and quickly breaks down dead skin cells. The Papaya fruit is popular in treating many skin problems like pimples, wrinkles, psoriasis, and eczema. Aloe : Aloes has been in use for over 7,000 years. Aloes is anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and is extremely effective in treating several skin disorders. It is an effective moist -urizer and helps in anti-aging, cleansing, and softening the skin. Aloes inhibits the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase which is responsible for skin discoloration. Aloes removes dead skin cells and stimulates formation of new cells, tightening of the skin, and making the skin look young. Tulsi (Ocimum Sanctum or Holy Basil) : Popularly know as basil, Tulsi is an extremely aromatic and stimulating herb. It has many antibacterial, anti-stress, anti-fungal, and antibiotic properties. Like sandalwwood, the aroma of tulsi is conducive to meditation. It is used in many skin treatments, and is particularly helpful in smooth -ening and softening the skin. Leaves and seeds are used to treat skin problems; Khus (Andropogan Muricatus): Widely used in aroma therapy and perfumes, Khus is a cooling agent, tonic, and blood purifier. It has a very cooling effect on the skin, and is used in treating many skin disorders Rose Oil : Rose oil is a cooling agent and is excellent for tired skin. It is a good source of vitamins C and E. Rose oil has a very pleasant fragrance to it. It removes dead cells from the skin, and provides relief from burns. It slows the aging process and balances the skin's chemistry. Rose oil is used for cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and nourishing of the skin. Almond Oil : Almond oil is an emollient, anti-pruritic, and laxative. It makes a very good nourishing skin cream. Its smooth massaging action on the skin helps absorb dead skin cells and removes superficial hair. It is very useful for softening the skin and is the best base oil for any kind of massage. -Sonzy ********Sponsor's Message :******* Gourdin is doing wonders to Diabetics around the world.
