Guest guest
Hello, Can anyone tell me if Garlic consumed in raw ( about 3 to 4 pieces every day) useful or harmful to the body. Some one told me, Garlic if taken regularly has some very small amount of poison - Is this correct. I take this with a hope that body pain will be reduced & to increase sexual Vigour. This information was collected from web sites some time back.
Guest guest
It shouldn't hurt people - except that it makes your breath smell bad! In dogs, it causes Heinz body anemia. I don't know about cats or other animals. Susan __________________________ Can anyone tell me if Garlic consumed in raw ( about 3 to 4 pieces every day) useful or harmful to the body. Guest guest
Garlic is a versatile food. It has anti-biotic properties. Its benefits far out weigh its negative effects, which to my knowledge only pertains to us if we are seriously into self realization, as it makes the bady and mind more heavy. Now by heavy please don't conclude otherwise this light and heavy is a very sublte term only meant for the real yogis not even for people who sit in meditation for 20 minutes or 1-3 hrs. For all of us, the worldly people garlic holds great promise by way of health. It protects us from heart problem, from high BP from, obesity, and infections and much more. For the Hindus, self realisation was the ultimate goal, and though they may not be aware of that but by food habit or by religious sanctions many of the Hindus,( read Jains as well),do not eat guru food, or that which promotes lethargy, Garlic and ginger come in that. Bot to an average person I would say that garlic is a boon. ________________________________ Can anyone tell me if Garlic consumed in raw ( about 3 to 4 pieces every day) useful or harmful to the body. Guest guest
From my readings, garlic is one of the (if not the )most studied herbs. Studies I have read say that some nutrients are better absorbed raw and others better absorbed cooked. My guess, although I am not sure, is one could probably get the benefits of both by fermenting garlic like using it in a pickle or using it in a pesto with a little lemon juice. One could also cook garlic and add some raw garlic at the end. However, using different forms of garlic also depends on the dosha. Raw garlic definitely increases pitta more than cooked garlic. Guest guest
I wouldn't exactly say it is harmful But if you are the pitta type, then you may want to watch your intake as it upset the tridosha balance With best wishes, from Rahul, (bruntno1 )Owner/Moderator - The CYBUGLE & 60seconds ________________________________ U mean to say that raw garlic is harmful? Guest guest
It might be harmful for a pitta person. It would be better for a pitta person to take cooked garlic if they do take garlic. Guest guest
How does one knows what type they are ? Is there a way to figure that out or only a Vaidya can say that? Any reference material on that to feed my curiosity would be much appreciated. Thanks Sunny _____________________________ No raw garlic is not harmful. Guest guest
There are some online tests available which can give a general idea. I would compare it to Sun sign based horoscopes!I got to know about my Prakriti and Vikriti from a Vaidya though. -Pradeep _____________ How does one knows what type they are ? Guest guest
Sai Ram. I am not an expert on Ayurveda, though I follow many discussions here with interest. My main areas of expertise / interest are homeopathy, tissue remedies, Bach Flowers, Reiki and Spiritual Healing. From my own experience I can tell you that your body is the best guide to tell you what food suits you and what does not. In my case, I was taking onions and garlic (not raw but in many foods) but then found increasing distress when they were being consumed. When I gave up these items, I felt much better. Now I try to avoid even the smell of these items in the house but it is difficult since all others in the house are able to take them! I go out of that area and also request for better ventilation so that the smells are cleared quickly. If you are of the Sulphur or Pulsatilla type in homeopathy, you may have problem in consuming garlic and onions (to a lesser extent). You may crave them but may feel some discomfort after taking. Unless you are really advanced in Yoga (like Shirdi Sai Baba for example), you would be better off by leaving onion and garlic if interested in spirituality. The above is shared from personal experience and is not intended as professional advice. Guest guest
Have you tried Divya Dant Manjan and/or Dant Kanti toothpaste, both of Patanjali Ayurveda? Perhaps it might work. Best wishes.
