Guest guest
There have been posts in the past regarding the different impacts of metals on drinking water, I have bought a stainless steel drinking vessel for use in the car while I'm on the road and wonder if someone can advise me as to the impact this might have on my health. I bought it in preference to using the plastic bottles I had been using, THanks for your help, Jane
Guest guest
hello depends on how regularly u use it. i generally carry a silver vessel or a copper vessel or a copper vessel with silver tint. these are good for health also avoid exposing these vessels to harsh sunlights best is glass bottles or ceramic vessels which can be shielded in a wrapper or cloth cover from sunlight however these are subjective. in cold wethers u can use brass [again tinted] to keep the water warm enough hence if u drink that regularly try considering these options occasional use is not gonna make much of a difference but if u wanna get in good habits then the above recomendations are fruitful enough hope this helps -- Sumit Ashok Kesarkar http://drsumit.in/ http://nlam.in/ _______________ ..........I have bought a stainless steel drinking vessel for use > in the car while I'm on the road and wonder if someone can advise me as to the impact this might have on my health........ Guest guest
If you use ceramic vessels, be sure they don't have lead-containing glaze. Recently I've been reading that acid-containing drinks, including wine and brandy, leach the lead out of crystal decanters. Guest guest
Hi Jane From what I know stainless steel is better than plastic as long as you do not have RO or demineralized water in it. In that case the nickel in it may leach into the water. Also if used for cooking ( not in this case) acidic foods may cause the nickel to leach in to it. Hope this helps Sarita ______________ I have bought a stainless steel drinking vessel for use in the car while I'm on the road and wonder if someone can advise me as to the impact this might have on my health. Guest guest
Thanks Sarita, I also looked back through the files and found a couple of references implying that drinking out of a stainless steel container may possibly increase the likelihood of diabetes. I feel happier using glass and for some reason I am not totally comfortable using this metal container, which I suppose is a good enough guideline. Guest guest
Jane. Stainless steel is always better than plastic. There will not be any bad odour in stainless steel utensils. In fact, in India, most houses have stainless steel utensils for cooking, eating, drinking etc. Bronze is the best metal to be used for the same purpose. But it is not possible for everybody to use bronze due to the high cost. In ancient era, use of Gold & Silver was followed for the utensils as those r the best metals. But day by day it is becoming increasingly day-dream to use these metals as daily utensils. Even today in many houses Silver utensils r used for special purposes. Guest guest
When stainless steel had just come in in 1957 , we were told that using it will cause cancer. But for convenience sake all of us are using Stainless steel. Earlier we were using brass on which kalai was coated which was infact very good for the health of men in particular, but getting that coating done was an extra task. In today's convinience living and fast living, no one wants to get into it. Slowly the kalai walas who used to regularly do their rounds have also disappeared. The brass vessels have assumed a different avatar of being displayed as antique collection. Kansi was another metal. I dont know the composition but it was a specific thing eating out of it supposed to have health benefits. After having written this I searched for Kansi and see what I found. I remember my mother used to get her foot massaged with a kansi bowl. Kansi is a mixture of three metals, tin, copper, and iron, and is also called bell metal. http://www.kansavatkifootmassage.co.uk/ Some of the many benefits according to this site are – Relaxes tired feet – Improves blood and lymphatic circulation – Enhances lower limb mobility – Restores levels of Prana (energy) – Promotes sound sleep – Relieves eyestrain from prolonged computer use ________________________________ From what I know stainless steel is better than plastic as long as you do not have RO or demineralized water in it.
