Guest guest
Hello smartboy your questions are indeed smart, asking for Best treatment on the net. Who will decide which treatment is best? Even amongst home remedies, not everything suits everyone. Vaidyas can make most suitable choice for each patient. However author is suggesting you something which suits majority from his own experience. It is important to understand why dry cough occurs. Dry cough can be indicator of some serious conditions too. Such cases should be handled by vaidyas only. Most common reason could be irritation, inflamation, infection of lung or bronchial tube as a result of airborne dust, chemicals, gases, fumes, microbes, viruses. Air passages secret mucous to trap these, but due to winter dry air, heat inside the body, insufficiency of mucous (caused by immuno-suppresant steroidal synthetic drugs) it dries up and mucous cant be expelled in wet condition. Dry cough often comes after a viral infection, the lingering side effect of synthetic medicines taken to treat the infections. Hydration of the body is first step. Take copper water in warm condition, every two hours. Add a little ginger while putting copper vessel on fire. You may add honey when it is lukewarm, honey is useful home remedy here. Taking this copper water through out the day will help. But it alone cant cure dry cough, please note. Soak Almond seeds in water overnight and the remove skin. Now grind well to form a fine paste. Add butter (or pure indian cow ghee if you can get) and sugar to the paste. This paste should be taken in the morning and evening. The quantity of almond seeds is four to start with and go on adding one seed each day till ten seeds. The quantity of butter and sugar is 3 grams each for every almond seed taken. If you find above remedy too difficult, take turmeric rhizome. You can roast it by holding on gas fire such that it turns brownish. Take care that it does not start burning during roasting. No microwave please. Pound lightly and powder it in kitchen mixer. Turmeric powder made this way should be taken in 1 tsp doses twice daily, in the morning and evening. While taking with warm water is adequate, licking it in honey will give more benefit. Any of above remedies should be tried on empty stomach condition, which for a normal lifestyle occurs morning evening and evening. It is important to know the time of the day when dry cough is most active, as it can suggest more focussed approach for treatment. Yes, dry cough is also related to stomach, as 99 out of 100 diseases are. During winter, dry cough occurs more often as the foods which are eaten are also kapha promoting. Boosting agni is the root treatment, already discussed in group archives. Until root cause remains, you will have some relief by above remedies, but not complete long term cure. ___________ can anyone provide me the best ayurvedic treatment for the dry cough ?? ... is dry cough also related to stomach ?? Guest guest
Sai Ram. In addition to the suggestions already given, here is yet another suggestion for a home remedy. Indian gallnut or inknut, also called har, harda or pilehar in Hindi, kadukka in Malayalam, kadukar or karakkaya in Telugu, harithaki, pathya, sudha or poothana in Sanskrit, Terminalia chebula, Combretaceae, Chebulic myrobalan - the bark of this kept in the mouth helps. My friend suggested this and my wife is finding it helpful.
