Seeking Ayruvedic help for my dental problems

Namaste all,

I'm a 35 year old living in the USA for the last 10 years. I went for a routine

dental checkup and the dentist showed me the X-RAY and told me that the gum area

below the crown ( I had a root canal around 6 years ago ) is infected. I will

need to undergo a procedure called " root canal retreatment " where the dentist

would remove the crown , clean up the infected area and replace the crown. The

problem with this approach is that this is just a patchwork kind of thing and

the tooth may get infected again.

1. Is there any Ayurvedic medicine/tooth powder I can use safely to treat this

problem or prevent it from reocurring ?

2. Is there any specific diet I need to follow ?

As determined by my Vaidya my constitution is Vata-Pitta. I follow a

conventional South-Indian diet comprising of rice, dal, sambhar, vegetables etc.

Thanks and regards,

Pradeep

Dear Pradeep,

You may try Divya Dant Manjan and Dant Kanti Toothpaste which are available at

Patanjali Chikitsalayas and Baba Ramdev Sewa Kendras.

Manjan should be used regularly. After using the Manjan, please don't gargle.

Just spit out the saliva leaving a thin film on the gums for a few minutes, say

for about 10 minutes or so. Then you can gargle. This will slowly but surely

help you over a period of three weeks or so. But keep using the manjan regularly

and some times, the toothpaste. Or you may use the paste at night and the manjan

at other times.

This practice has solved all my gum problems including the one like yours. I too

have a cap over my teeth after undergoing root canal. It is fine now and does

not give any trouble any more. So, please try it how it works. Trying it should

not be a problem, I hope!

With best wishes for speedy recovery,

Thank you Acharya-ji for your info. I have placed the order for Divya dant

manjan online.

Sir, its much cheaper than the insurance amounts we pay here in USA for dental

services. Just to look at your teeth they charge close to 100 dollars!

I have a general question. Does Ayurveda mention anything about flossing

methods?

Regards,

Pradeep

Dear friend,

I am not a vaidya. Hence I can't tell you about flossing. You may ask that

question to other vaidyas online. When I had developed toothache, root canal was

done by a good dentist. Yet, it was quite painful and expensive. Next time when

I had tooth problem, the sane Dentist developed some sympathy for me and in the

very next visit, he did something and placed the tooth that was giving trouble,

into my hands quietly removing it without my even knowing about it.  It was

painlessly removed. He did not even charge me as I had helped many of his

dentist friends by curing their back pain as it is a professional hazard for all

dentists. So he seems to have helped me in that fashion.

You can even post this online while asking vaidyas online about flossing. Now

with the use of Divya Dant Manjan, I am absolutely fine without any problem

whatsoever. Hence if you post this mail also, perhaps they will be in a better

position to give their advice.

Let no one charge a hundred dollars even to look at your teeth.
