Guest guest
Too much calcium intake causes constipation. Most people supplement with calcium when they really don't need to. Josephine
Guest guest
I suffered from chronic constipation from the age of 17 to 48. My daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and tho my tests came out negative I went on a gluten free diet anyway. In three days I had normal BMs and no more constant stomach ache!!! In one month I was able to reduce my thyroid meds. Guest guest
At your age, you should continue taking your calcium since your bones are still growing. Make sure you also get enough magnesium. The constipation becomes a problem for women when they reach menopause. http://www.knowledgeofhealth.com/report.asp?story=Too%20much%20calcium%20not%20e\ nough%20magnesium & catagory=Calcium,%20Magnesium http://www.knowledgeofhealth.com/report.asp?story=Should%20women%20rely%20on%20a\ %20bone%20mineral%20density%20test%20as%20a%20measure%20of%20skeletal%20health & c\ atagory=Hormones,%20Calcium http://www.knowledgeofhealth.com/report.asp?story=Stop%20Treating%20Osteoporosis\ %20Like%20It%20Is%20A%20Calcium%20Deficiency & catagory=Hormones,%20Calcium good advice however can you tell me if say you had only small amounts of calcium from about age 7 to 16 as (i have and i'm 22 now) would you recommend a calcium supplement in that instance? _._,_.___ . Guest guest
I wanted to come back to this and to say thank you to all who gave advice, especially those who indicated that hormones might be an issue here. I ended up having a female hormone test related to depression (I've been managing my depression well, but noticed that I would have a mood drop about mid-cycle). The test did show that at mid-cycle my estrogen level fell quite low and stayed that way for about two weeks until the beginning of the next cycle. So for the past few months I have been to see a registered medical herbalist who also happens to be an acupuncturist to bring things back into balance. And I seem to be having good results, although the changes are slow and subtle. Thanks Sharon
Guest guest
If you eat too much roughage or fiber, it can do that to you.
Guest guest
I have had constipation issues since childhood. Now it is even worse in my mid 40s. None of the common remedies such as raisins, prunes, spinach, oats work for me. I have a feeling that this is affecting my overall health particularly swelling in finger joints, hair loss and knees. I would appreciate any help. Also, do you have suggestions for a doctor in the Chennai area. Thank you very much in advance, Ramah

Guest guest
I had a similar problem. When nothing worked, Aloe Vera juice plus Amla taken late at night. Or even when one gets up after an hour or two of sleep, it can be taken then. It is most effective and clears my bowels the moment I get up and take the morning cup of tea. Please try what works for you; but work it must. If you have any further problem, please feel free to let me know.
