Dear Mr. Paralkar,

From your post, I get an impression that you are either from the Allopathic

doctor or a pharmacology person. Well, the text formulations(The so called

Classical medicines), dont require any kind of therapeutic profiling before

being introduced in the market. Just the quality control parameters have to be

adhered to. However, for a proprietary formulation, it is mandatory that the

safety data should be available before any clinical evaluation which also is

mandatory before the formulation is introduced in the market. The evalation may

be done at any place where the facilities are available.

Regards,

Dr. Sanjay Sharma

All these queries in my post are from safety point of view and reliability

of medicine.

If it is not mandatory , doesnt mean everything is OK.

Dear Shrikant Paralkar,

These medicines are time tested. They have been in use for thousands of years. I

am sure you would agree, the toxic effects would surely have been known by now

if they had any. The continual usage of these formulations without any adverse

events being reported proves that tey are safe.

I am aware Ayurved medicines are used for past thousands of years.

In todays time we have to grow Ayu.medicines in present circumstances and

use them as medicines.

I am told all aloe vera and all muslee are not same. They have to be

cultivated with special care. Are you sure what is available commercially is

produced with necessary precautions.

Dear Shrikant,

You have hit bull's eye. This is just one of the problems that the scientific

community is facing today in the field of standardisation of herbal medicines,

in the modern context. The govt have taken an initiative in this direction, but

only when u come across the problems practically, do u understand the reality.

As far as the activities of herbal drugs is concerned, the point is debatable

and we can go on arguing on this for as long as we want, but the bottom line is,

that we can't explain everything related to ayurveda in modern terminology, just

as an allopath can't explain the activities of allopathic drugs in the ayurvedic

terminology.
