Thanks for bringing out something most will find difficult to believe!

Shoe smell helps to recover in villages, since villagers walk on soil rich with

sulphur and phosphorous. Other minerals also matter. The soil which releases

typical smell when it receives first rain, is most effective. This practice

helps to recover from the convulsion rapidly. Those who work in Goushalas never

face epilepsy, due to the strong smell of cow urine. Same thing can be said

about those spending time in a farm where Tulsi grows, or Neem trees exist in

plenty.

Other than shoes, there are other smells too, which are found effective in

experience. Crtain compounds of sulphur and phosphorous appear to be the common

factors here too. However, shoe smelling is most common and scientific basis

behind it has been subject of a paper in " Clinical Neurology and neurosurgery "

last year! for reading it online, please visit:

Author was surprised to see that paper is published from a modern medical

college, but ayurvedic institutes have not found this topic worth researching so

far.
