Is it advisable to take coconut water(green) for BP patients?i am having

bordrline BP & using ayurveda medicines.I am of the impression that it has high

sodium.Pl clarify.

When should we have to take the coconut water ?

COCONUT

 

I don't think it is a good idea to use it as a water replacement...

Ayurveda

 

Coconut is sweet and cooling. It decreases Pitta and Vata but increase Kapha.

It is specific for high Pitta.

It is refrigerant, diuretic, demulcent and emollient. It nourishes the lungs

and skin and is good for recovery periods from febrile.

 

Chinese

Warming thermal nature; sweet flavor; strengthening; quells wind; haemostatic;

tonifies the heart. Used for weakness, emaciation, nosebleed, and childhood

malnutrition.

Coconut is good source of saturated fat for vegetarians; however, it can be

dangerous when used by those with excess saturated fat and cholesterol in the

diet (for example, a diet concentrated in heavy meats, eggs and dairy).

Coconut milk is warming, sweet, clears the effects of summer heat, quenches

thirst, increases semen, and builds the Yin fluids. It is often helpful in

treating edema resulting from heart weakness and diabetes.

I have found coconut water very beneficial. It especially helps in providing

cooling effect to the body (mainly, in the pitta condition). I don't know the

benefits in regards to BP, but doing a Google search yielded some useful

results.

If you have one coconut everyday (ideally, in the morning) that would be

helpful. I don't really know if replacing regular water with coconut water for

the whole day is good (but I believe that consuming anything too much may not be

that beneficial. Moderation is the key.)

 

In any case, I suggest using ONLY fresh coconuts, do not use those

coconut-water cans available these days in the market (they are not fresh, many

contain preservatives, and they don't taste that as good as fresh coconut

water).
